As a father of three daughters I would describe the violence as mild to moderate ..... I would say it is ok violence-wise for my daughters, if they were age about 14 and up.
The sex scenes are more graphic, in my opinion, than the violence. The sex is more graphic than the two productions of Spring Awakening I have seen. At least you can justify to your daughter in Spring Awakening that the main sex scene is between 2 characters who love each other .... in AP .... it is all about hedonism. There are multiple sex scenes some of which are meant to be hilariously perverse. I don't want to give anything away but as I watched the show, I was expecting the next thing that would come out onto the stage was a three way between a homeless man, the Easter bunny, and a blender.
I would definitely not take my daughters, age under 18, to see AP. If it helps you decide, I would describe myself as an open-minded, socially liberal person. The sex scenes were funny .... just a little too much for me as a parent of three daughters.
