What a gorgeous score/recording. I unfortunately didnt get to see the production. I am curious to know how Dusoleil was transported from place to place on stage? e.g 'Dusoleil's Revenge'
Errico, Gets and the entire cast are splendid. Anyone see the show? Care to comment?

never saw it, but I love love LOVE this CD! Melissa Errico has one of the most beautiful voices!

Of course "Amour" has a special place in my heart. Saw it 10 times on Broadway and am listening to the cast album right now. Melissa's finest performance, without a doubt. This summer, Goodspeed is going to produce a new, reconceived version of the show. Tickets go on sale to non-members some time in March.

I thought Chris was terrific. Everybody was. I thought either Chris or Norm Lewis should've gotten a Tony nomination.

mef, that means you saw almost every show that it did.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Actually, I only saw it twice after it opened-opening night and closing. Most of the performances I saw were during the month-long preview period.

Scotty-

The staging was very much like a fairy tale. It was intricately lit, with gorgeous sets that made you feel as if you were right there in Monmartre.

Why did it close so quickly?

I really have no idea. The music is lovely. Every performer was excellent. Maybe it was too French for an American audience. Plus, it wasn't a big spectacle, which is usually what tourists (the backbone of Broadway) usually want to see. It still boggles me. I hope that it is eventually revived and given the credit that it deserves.

Was the theater full on closing night? Did the audience seem to enjoy it?

On closing night (it was actually a 3pm matinee), there was a good number of people, probably there because they knew it was their last chance to see it. Everybody enjoyed it and gave it much applause.

I caught the closing performance (a matinee). It was one of the most perfect jewells of a show I had ever seen in thirty years of theatergoing. I left the theater very angry, at the critics who "damned it with faint praise", at the audiences who were not brave enough to take a chance on an unknown entity, and (especially) myself for only seeing it once. One of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Great cast!

Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

The mush to short life of "Amour":

Opened October 20, 2002
Closed November 3, 2002

At least they had the good sense to record a cast album.
