"I do doubt that everyones contract is up in september. For most shows the original cast is contracted for either a year since previews start or either opening night. I have trouble believing that the Rock Of Ages cast is contracted for such a short amount of time."
Isn't it usually a year from the first week of rehersals (even if it's a try-out), which are about 2 months from the opening-ish. So it's usually 10 months from the opening...
The first performance of this production was October 1, while off-Broadway...therefore the contracts being up in September makes perfect sense, even if by your standards...!
Philly, even if they were using the same contracts from the off Broadway run it wouldn't include Spanger's because she joined the show for its Broadway run and didn't spend time with the Off Broadway production.

I will freely admit that I am in no way privy to anything about Rock of Ages or Ms Spanger when it comes to this situation, but based on Spanger's behavior in the past in other shows - and having witnessed one such incident first hand - I would in NO way be shocked if Ms Spanger had, or has, been throwing EXTREMELY out of line tantrums and being (VERY undeservedly) as a self important diva.
Without going into detail, i will mention one particular incident where ms Spanger threw a fit and my jaw was practically on the floor with how out of line it was. She can certainly be a very nice woman and I make no judgement on that front whatsoever, but she HAS her moments.. sometimes there can be too many moments.

No, it's just BroadwayGuy2, unfortunately. He tends to trash certain Broadway actors.
This is a good one, though. He freely admits he knows nothing about this, but he uses the fact that she's been out of the show for awhile to bring up that he once allegedly saw her throw a fit, then suggests the possibility that she's been hypothetically throwing tantrums - EXTREMELY out of line ones, to boot (are there any other kind?)- then has the nerve to follow that with follow that with "...she'"s a very nice woman and I make no judgement on that front whatsoever..."
Having no basis at all for any of it. Shameless, really.
ETA: Thanks, Namo, that connected a few dots for me.

I hope she is OK.
But- Savannah is perfect in the role.
ROCK OF AGES Star Spanger Out On Vocal Rest, Will Return 06/29

She needs a a freaking vocal coach. And if she does have one, she needs to fire that person and get a new one. This is the second show that she's had an extended vocal rest during. She was out for WEEKS during Wedding Singer on vocal rest.
Well it doesn't help that both Wedding Singer and Rock have a very demanding scores for the roles she was cast in. Amy is a wonderful actress, she really shines in everything she does, and shes still Hot as ever. Im sure many people would need vocal rest after belting their face off 8 times a week to "Harden my Heart"/"Caught by Suprise" and sounding as great as she does. I wish the best for Amy and can't wait for her return...her being the main reason I will have a second viewing of Rock.

considering Amy hasn't hit the note at the end of "Harden My Heart" in weeks, and the only time I did hear her do it leading up to the Tonys was the night before/day of, I do believe she needed vocal rest. I enjoy both her and Savannah's performance for different reasons, and do hope she returns.
TheaterBoy, that's HARDLY an excuse. There are WAY more demanding vocal scores out there. In fact, it's absolutely laughable to even consider The Wedding Singer to be a demanding score. This is coming from someone who LOVES that show. Her songs in the Wedding Singer were just bubblegum pop songs, not stuff that should be hard on your vocal cords if singing properly. And while I would say that singing rock music is harder, Amy is singing all of the rock songs in ROA like belty pop ballads as loud as possible. A.K.A. She needs a new voice teacher.
The score for Gypsy, especially Rose's songs, is far more challenging. How many times was Patti LuPone out on vocal rest?
