I was able to listen to the recording of the show, and I must say that is very enjoyable. It's a trip back to the big hits of the 80's. Such fun! Amy's version of Extreme's "More Than Words" is fabulous. Constantine is great when he sings Steven Perry's "Oh Sherrie", wonderful job!
Any official announcement on why Amy left the show?

OMG, I appreciate GOOD jokes, but yours suck!
By the way I never reviewed the show, unfortunatly I've never seen it. Im not saying the CD is good either since it's not original stuff. I'm saying it's entertaining to listen to some new versions of old hits from the 80's.

Maybe I'm naive, but I do believe it could have been vocal damage. At least it's plausible. The vocals are very demanding (i.e. High Enough). It's like a nightly rock concert.
I saw the show the week it opened with Amy Spanger and felt the original cast would never last because it was so grinding, so I brought a group several weeks later and Amy Spanger was already gone. Savannah Wise was an adequate replacement. She was fairly fresh in the part and still learning. (I saw Adam Dannheiser cueing her a few times.)
I understand Wesley Taylor is leaving in September for The Addams Family, does anyone know when some of the others are scheduled to leave?
The anchor of the show is Constantine Maroulis. His vocals are amazing. He totally shines on the cast album too. If and when he goes, his replacement needs to be someone with a big talent.
The casting on this show was brilliant. It could have been such a trifle in the wrong hands.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I know Constantine Maroulis and Savannah Wise's contracts are also up in September.

I watched Spanger and Maroulis on a few televised events and said to myself, "this would be a cute/entertaining show with other people." I wasn't fond of either of their work, so, I said that once they left, I may go see it.

Posted: 7/19/09 at 12:18pmSpanger was in no way better or worse than Kelli Barrett (though I was partial to Barrett).

I thought Kelli was much better than Amy in this part. Amy just "said" the lines and rushed a lot of them- IMO.
Kelli was much more believable.
Savannah- is perfect.

He tweeted about how happy he was to work with Savannah because she was amazing, "unlike some other people." Or something to that effect.

wdw, I must disagree, I think she sounded just fine at the Tonys. I love that she had a star entrance in the middle of the performance and she actually got a lot of cheering.
