What if Jennifer Saunders played the Chaperone? I know she might be a little old for the part, but I was watching a music video of her singing "Holding Out For A Hero" from Shrek 2, and I think she might fit the part.
I don't forsee Beth Leavel leaving her Tony winning role anytime soon (if ever for the duration of the run) and I don't expect to see DROWSY going on tour.
I think James was proposing a more hypothetical situation. Obviously, its rather popular on here to be immediately negative... so you're just trying to fit in with the cool kids and I forgive you for it. Why not instead of being totally dismissive, answer the actual question... and then be dismissive or bitchy or whatever. But at least give the poster respect enough to answer their question.
I think Jennifer Saunders would do a good job. She's so funny and can sing pretty ok. But, I think she's kinda of a bigger deal than the size of the part. But, as far as fit goes... I think she'd be great.
I still don't understand why some don't see Drowsy touring. There are many talented people who I am sure can handle the roles. The roles aren't exclusive to Bob Martin, Sutton Foster, Beth Leavel, etc...although their talents do shine in the show.

I would love to see Drowsy tour. I bet it will. According to many people, it's appropriate for all ages (the jokes that aren't for kids will go right over their heads anyway).

It for sure should tour...it's garnered great reviews, awards (Hello...5 Tony Awards!) and is perfect for any theaters subscription series. It has earned the chance to spread it's magic across the land...it's just what the country needs!

I think in order to tour successfully, they would need a "name" somewhere in the show.
And who's to say they won't cast a "name"? Drowsy deserves a tour.
DROWSY would do very well on tour.
Jennifer Saunders would be funny, but it would be a literal typecast, as per her role in AB FAB. If one of the AB FAB ladies were to do it, I'd go for Lumley.
I'm unsure wether it will tour or not but it's really hard for me to see anyone other than Bob Martin play Man in Chair.
I'm sure there are others that can-it's just he fits it so perfectly.
I don't think Drowsy, though brilliant and wonderful, would do very well on tour. It's a show for people who have seen broadway shows and understand what the problem with theater today. It's not a good first musical, and that's what ususally happens with these tours.
Who knows? I could be completely wrong and it could do wonderfully, it's just what I thought.

I work in a box office at a theatre in the midwest that hosts touring shows. Many subscribers see all shows every year no matter what. A tour is pretty much successful no matter what because of this. WHat stops a show from touring is if it is impossible to tak on the road for any reason. This is any easy set to tour, and lord knows there are talented people to tour. It will tour. Names or now. Just think of all the tours without "names." Or the ones that lose their stars early on. They don't fail.

I'd be shocked if Drowsy *doesn't* tour.
I agree, I think this show could easily go on tour. I really think it would be interesting to see another actor's interpretation of Man in Chair.
Any news on a Drowsy Chaperone Tour?
I have no doubt that DROWSY will tour.
But the place this show REALLY needs to go is London.
The Brits will eat it up and lick the spoon.
