Anastasia Musical?

So, apparently there are readings being done for a stage adaptation of the 1997 movie Anastasia. I know Angela Lansbury has signed on to reprise her role and Aaron Lazar is involved as well as Aaron Tveit, but still no casting for the title character. Any ideas?



Personally I vote for Andrea Mcardle cause well....i just want her back on broadway

I'm kidding relax.

I love Sierra also but i feel it would almost be type casting if she got the part.She would be Amazing in it though. She has already originated the most iconic disney princess,Now she could originate one of themost iconic Duchesses.Id be good with her or laura osnes.

I don't mean to rain on anyones parade (sorry I had to make the reference) evade I would love sierra for this role, but would Disney let her because of The Little Mermaid?

To many little kids he is ariel and being anastasia would "break the illusion" which Disney are obsessed with but then we did hae Annalise as Belle and many children would of known her off of Thats so raven so maybe Dismey Theatrical aren't as wound up on the whole "magic of Disney" atmosphere

Cortney Wofson and Meghann Fahy would also be great for Anastasia

Though if Laura Osnes wasn't too busy with the Cinderella revival the role would be hers in an instant.

Laura Osnes confirmed she a was not involved in the project on her twitter. She said the Workshop was the same time as the Cinderella workshop. I LOVE Laura, but I think she would be better for Cinderella and not for Anastasia. I think Sierra Boggess would be perfect. Yes, She was Ariel... But that was a Disney Production and Anastasia is NOT Disney. So I don't think there would be a problem there.

I know this is kind of cliche, but I sorta can see Sutton Foster playing it... She probably never would because she doesn't have that typical "princess" personality. But she could maybe play the part well... ?

Actually I could see Sutton as Anastasia. The character isn't prissy at all, she has an edge, sarcastic and witty. Not the typical princess at all.

There were rumblings when this was first announced that they were after Anne Hathaway for Anastasia. I'm not sure if she wound up being available, since she'll probably be quite busy promoting THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in the coming weeks, but she'd be an absolutely inspired choice.

I'm so sad to hear that Laura isn't even in the running, oh well. I'm super excited for the Cinderella revival.

I hadn't even thought about Anneliese van der Pol, girlfriend's got some chops.

Marla's got a killer range and I adore her voice. Jenn is a fabulous actress who is certainly beautiful enough for the part and Lea Michelle would have some serious star power, and I think she could certainly sing it like Liz Callaway did. Although I'm partial to a beltier sound

Sierra Boggess would be perfect. Also, her in that gorgeous glittery gown would be stunning and would also make a great poster. I'm oddly excited for this.
