And jakethesnake is a sock puppet.
Not surprising. He registered today just to post this.

Well, if it's on her website coming from her mouth, then I imagine she's signed the contract. And I highly doubt they were keeping her casting under wraps to go with a major bongo announcement since she's not exactly a star (although she's very, very good).

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:08pmI'm not sure what a sock puppet is? Was that an insult? Yes, I registered to post that info. So? I've been a lurker out here for years, I read many actor's websites to stay up to date, I saw this info, I have read a lot of questions about the Piazza tour, and I posted. And? Is there a rule about when one is supposed to register?

Understatement...

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:25pmreally, imho, Elena is the premiere legit ingenue of her generation of musical theatre singers. Just as there was Barbara Cook, then Christine Andreas, then Meg Bussert, then Patti Cohenour, then Luker, and now Elena. She really is just PHENOMENAL.

Hehe, Doogie, that's a bit premature right now, don't you think?
However, once she creates a role on Broadway and gets some real exposure/credit, I think I'd agree.
Andyf, I'm almost inclined not to like her just because you do.

Elena who?
and actors talk about casting before they sign contracts all the time.
They get excited and can't help themselves.

OMG!
I AM SO EXCITED!
ELENA IS AMAZING AND ONE OF THE NICEST PERFORMERS I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF MEETING!
I saw her play Laura in Woman in White, and I saw her as Lili in Carnival at papermill. Both spectacular performances. I luckily met her on my birthday, this past march 9, and she was such an amazing person! I am thrilled! Hooray Elena! I must email her!

Very nice!
Will Clara be a brunette now, or will they put her in a blonde wig? Celia Keenan-Bolger stayed a brunette as Clara, but it seems they've been casting blondes on Broadway (Kelli O'Hara, Katie Clarke, Jennifer Hughes).

I, for one, learned the hard way NOT to announce ANYTHING as OFFICIAL until the powers that be announce!
DUH!!!!

So. . . i find this VERY odd because, even though she may be very talented, she LOOKS like a franca!!! normally i think hair color shouldn't matter, but with the whole american/italian thing being so much a part of the story, i'm shocked! they could wig her, but still with her eyes and overall look, i think she is so ethnic looking!
Does anyone know if she was up for it with Jennifer Hope Wills when they were searching for Kelli's original replacement?

Posted: 5/11/06 at 10:04pmYeah, I thought she looked like a Franca too. I think she just needs to be blonde, because being brown and that Italian looking wouldn't work out well with the story.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 10:13pmYes, in her headshots, she looks much more like a Franca. But she is really too young for that role, and, as Bartlett Sher, the director has stated, It is very hard to find someone who can REALLY sing that role, act that role, and be gorgeous. Elena is one of maybe, five people I can think of (O'Hara included) who fit that bill.

Theater etiquette? Where, oh where, has it gone? Excitement about booking a role is fine. Telling your friends is o.k., I guess...but knowing when to announce it to the public is a sign of professionalism.
No reflection on her talent whatsoever --- but people have lost jobs for less.
