Until about a minute ago, I had no idea Andy Karl and Orfeh were even an item. So no, I have no "issues" with the Karls.
Andy Karl is a wonderful talent, however, his being cast in a show is not stunt casting by any means. No one, outside of a few people from BWW are going to say, "Let's go see The Wedding Singer now that Andy Karl is in it." He's going to be in the ensemble, for crying out loud.
But one question, on the offical site, Kevin wasnt even listed as a Robbie understudy, the RObbie understudy is Matthew Stocke... why isnt he goin on instead?
The official Wedding Singer site also still has Spencer Liff on there as being in the ensemble and he left the show a while ago, so that section of the site hasn't been updated since it was put up, pretty much. :)
Matt Stocke is first u/s for Glen, Kevin Kern is first u/s for Robbie. There you go, LOL.
And on the note of Andy Karl stepping in for David Josefsberg, I think it's a matter of Andy had auditioned for the show and they probably just kept him in mind to replace certain ensemble members if anyone left the show anytime soon. I'm guessing since Andy will be doing Legally Blonde, this is really his only chance to do the show. Plus David's going to be out for 5 weeks - that is a LONG time. Besides the whole "have to offer a swing the role if they go on for a certain length of time" thing, that's using swings for one role where they might need them elsewhere during that time period. It's probably just easier to bring in someone else. I don't know. :) My opinion.
And to answer another question, David will be out due to medical reasons.

Thespian. It's onstage. :)
This means we see Kevin and Andy. I'm pretty sure "Excitement" doesn't even describe.
Maybe the entire original cast of Altar Boyz will be in The Wedding Singer over a course of time... haha.
While I am very excited to be seieng Andy, I hope everything turns out alright for David.
an altar boy for an altar boy how funny. And yea for Kevin Kern going on as Robbie, that boy is so talented, great to see he gets a shot at it.

Who's David Fonda?
David Fonda is the drunk best man at the beginning of the show.

..Word.
OMG I know him !!
I'm excited!!
Could it be that there is going to be some turnover and Andy just happens to be one the new cast members? Or perhaps a whole bunch of people are taking time off so they need to bring some new ensemble temporarily...and Andy just happens to be a "name" (at least to us)?
And I will definitely go to see Andy. I think he's fantastic!
First of all, like it or not (Adam, Nathan), Karl is a "name" and undeniably has an ever growing fan base that follows him from show to show. But, what's most laughable about what you last said Adam is:
"He's going to be in the ensemble, for crying out loud",
You're chiding people who (rightly) state that Karl will be an asset and could possibly boost ticket sales on a board that literally devotes ENTIRE THREADS to some random understudy no one has EVER heard of and/or considers certain people "broadway stars" before they made their BROADWAY debut in a short lived flop (no names necessary). Look at how ridiculously long the Tina Maddigan thread is and barring Mama Mia, she's a stand-by for crissake. So, going by this "rule" on BWW, Andy should certainly be considered stunt casting.
Stunt shmunt, Andy's a standout and an asset to any show he's in.
Haylie Duff in Hairspray? Stunt casting. Drew Lachey in Rent? Stunt casting. Joey Fatone in Rent/Little Shop? Stunt casting. Every casting decision ever made over at Chicago? Stunt casting. Andy Karl in Wedding Singer? Not so much with the stunt casting.
Anyhoo, I am super pumped for Andy to step into the role. That ensemble track is entertaining as hell (lord knows David has so much fun with it), and I can't wait to see Andy play around with it. It'll be an absolutely fantastic couple of weeks. I just think its a shame that David's Wall Street broker doesn't dance during the dance break of All About the Green...it's a shame to have Andy Karl in your ensemble and NOT make him dance as much as possible.

Off the topic at hand but someone said something about a WS tour. Any official news on that yet or is it just speculation? Thanks.

I haven't seen any PR statements, but I think it's in the works. Not 100% on that, though. :) So I guess it's just speculation.
I have friends who have been cast in shows simply as vacation swings. Whenever someone takes a lengthy break from the show, the VS will come and step in so as not to break the rhythm of everyone else's track. Could be the situation with Andy Karl. They're lucky to have him.
DoubleDown - The tour is very much official.
