Yes, it's strange given how long it's been rumored. Given her comment about wanting "hot actors" for the cast, perhaps they're trying to line up some bigger names and the logistics of doing that schedule-wise necessitates that this be planned far in advance.

Hello, Dolly! opens next April, and The Chalk Garden has been announced for the following season (2017-201
. I doubt Bette will appear long enough to see both in one trip.

lol yes, that's true. I'm thinking Angela wouldn't open in a show in the summer.
