Angels Theater

What theater do you think "Angels" will go into? What theater SHOULD they go into?

re: Angels Theater

They made a musical out of "Angels in America"?

re: Angels Theater

No, it's about the character from ReNt. It's a sequel.

re: Angels Theater

I thought Elphie was talking about "Angels: The New Musical Adventure"

their investors have told me, numerous times, they are aiming for Broadway (hah!). They have been holding auditions for a NY workshop all month.

YES! THank you TooDarnHot! That's the show I meant.

And the auditions have been for the out of town tryout. They already did a NY workshop...

re: Angels Theater

Don't they want to have the out of town tryout in New Orleans as an attempt to revitalize theatre in the city?

re: Angels Theater

I visited the website for Angels. Can't get excited by this one. I expect it will hit Broadway around the same time as Masada and Harmony.

re: Angels Theater

I was just wondering

1.) What theaters will (in theory) be free for it to potentially go in to

and

2.) What would be the best venue?

re: Angels Theater

my question - do you WANT it to come to Broadway?

I saw a reading and... yikes. The concept (and effects) are going to be very cool but the material is just very bad.

If you don't believe me, just go visit the website.

re: Angels Theater

I actually really liked what I saw on the website.

re: Angels Theater

I'm not sure about New Orleans, but its playing here in Shreveport(Northwest corner of the state) for 2 weeks this fall, and is being called a Pre-Broadway engagement.

re: Angels Theater

yes Bret. that makes sense.

I believe they did get enough financial backing to bring it to Broadway. I was surprised by that news.

I guess it's a show that could either "fly" (get it?) and gather some type of cult following or just flop terribly. I don't know.

so it will be joining the '08 - '09 season, probably. such a CROWDED season! I have no idea what theatre they will get.

re: Angels Theater

I know I said this in another Angels thread, but based on that NYMF workshop a year or two ago I say they shouldn't go into any theatre. I'm never the type to denounce something before it opens, but it was seriously painful. As in I would watch people get married under a gigantic lemon five times before having to watch it again bad.
