I've done this show too. I'm Canadian too! Ahaha! Hey Akiva, want to write the book and lyrics to a musical that I shall write the score to?
"Didn't this start out at the Charlottestown PEI Festival and then was revived each summer there for a decade or so?"
The show has been playing for 41 years, making it the longest continuing-run show in North America. MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people have seen and enjoyed this show. When I was a kid, my father produced shows for The Charlottetown Festival, so I hung out backstage for three seasons. It
's where I began my career. The show is simple and lyrical and so damn funny. The songs are straightforward and melodic and very, very Broadway a la Rodgers and Hammerstein. The story packs an emotional wallop with a tearjerker ending.
I have returned many times to see th show and watch American tourists dissolve in a puddle at the end.
The music is by Norman Campbell and the lyrics by Don Harron (Charlie Farquesson from "HeeHaw").
There are several other versions of this show, but the real winner is this one.
Millions of fans can't be wrong.

I think the new musical advertised on here should be great!
Anyone going to see it and reviewing it?
I've seen this musical four times at the confederation centre of the arts. I even got to meet Gilbert and a few guys from the ensemble two years ago and I even went backstage (cause of this theatre camp)! You're a canadian too? I live in Quebec. I think it's hard to beat the one in PEI. Jennifer Toulmin was great as Anne. She was really funny! Did you see it last year with the new Anne?

Funny thing, I was just reading about NB in today's Asbury Park Press travel section. Seems kind of nice, with the big tides, and Hopewell Rocks, etc. And I've wanted to visit PEI for the longest time. Well, just to get back from the off-topic:
This production of Anne at the Lortel is just the fix I needed.
