Added to Roundabout's schedule - a new "interpretation" of HEDDA GABLER, for the AA Theater in the winter.
Here's hoping that it's the Cate Blanchett production that played BAM.
Aw, mom! HEDDA again????

What would this be, the third in the past 15 years?
Blanchett, Burton, the other one Roundabout did...
And the Elizabeth Marvel/Ivo Van Hove collaboration a couple of years ago. Not that the calcified patrons of the Roundabout would notice.
I say: BRING BACK STRINDBERG!
Just to clarify, it's not this winter, it's Winter 2009.
So... that's something, maybe?
EDIT: Oh that's right. January and February are part of Winter, aren't they?
I wonder who will be starring in it.
Anything that (hopefully) brings Cate Blanchett to Broadway is fine by me.

Wouldn't it be something if they got Patricia Heaton?

I've always loved this play, which can bear repeated viewings/productions, partly because there's not really a "right" way to play the protagonist. It's the same thing with Hamlet -- endlessly fascinating and always open to reinterpretation and reevaluation.

"the other one Roundabout did..."
Wasn't it 1994? Kelly McGillis. Wasn't that the one they set in the 1950s?
Blanchett was fascinating; I'd happily see her again.
I just hope this thread doesn't devolve into that idiotic "But we just saw HEDDA three years ago" nonsense we've had to listen to about GYPSY.

Thank you, Reginald. A masterpiece is a masterpiece is a masterpiece. And should be kept in front of the public, particularly younger people, to remind them of what brilliant theatre really is.
Since I don't get the Cate Blanchett appeal, I'll suggest Mary Louise Parker for Hedda. I just think she'd be REALLY interesting.
love Hedda, I could care less.
we're actually doing it at my school next season.

I'm no stranger to plays, but this is one classic that I've been waiting to see! Very excited over here.
personally, i can't picture Mary Louise Park as Hedda. she's far too dead in her delivery....

a milquetoast addition to a milquetoast season ... brilliant casting (read: blanchett) would help, but im not sure it would save this choice.
I blush to admit I have never seen Hedda. Here's my chance.
I'd love to see Martha Plimpton, but I feel like they would go for a bigger name.
