re: Anthony Rapp 'Take Me or Leave Me'?

It's pretty ridiculous that I have 4 different versions of TMOLM on my iPod (OBCR, Movie sountrack, the karaoke version and the Alice Ripley/Anthony Rapp spoof)

oh, and monster threadjack but: There is now a Broadway_Baby2 who just joined BWW 3 days ago... *growl* *hiss*
Honey, I don't produce theater. I am theater.

re: Anthony Rapp 'Take Me or Leave Me'?

Sorry for the double-post but I just listened to the song and felt the need to leave a review on it.

First off, Alice Ripley, I wasn't opposed to her version of it. This was the first time I've heard her sing and she has an impressive voice that can hold notes well and it sounded like she was just having alot of fun with it. I thought she sounded fine in this, perhaps a tiny bit too "twangy" if that makes any sense at points but nothing painful to listen to.

And Anthony sounded fine as well even though he was sing/speaking through half of it. He also sounded like he was just having a good time with it and it was very entertaining. I really got a kick out of Alice's little "Anthony fangirl moment" during the "Ana retentive etc" part. Anyways they both just sounded like they where having a good time and I liked it, and was very amused by the song. :-P

It also makes me wonder how these two would have sounded together as Audrey and Seymour seeing as how Alice played Audrey in Florida with Hunter and Anthony was Seymour in the tour. I would be very interested to hear them both sing Suddenly Seymour or something.

Ya I have that version, it isn't very good quality, it kind skips near the end. I was very impressed by Alice Ripley, I love how she sings it.

I always thought that when Joanne said "Be wise cause this girl satisfies" she was referring to Maureen?

I think Joanne is referring to herself. Maureen's been talking herself up and so Joanne is firing back.

But referring back to Anthony Rapp, does anyone know if he still posts on this website or has any intention to do so?

re: Anthony Rapp 'Take Me or Leave Me'?

As far as I know, Sony had told him that he could not post on any blogs except for the official site blog until further notice which most have been assuming as until the movie comes out. As to whether he will start posting again once Sony allows him to, no idea. I would assume so since he was fairly active on the AR thread for a while but who knows.

re: Anthony Rapp 'Take Me or Leave Me'?

It is a bit odd. Ripley is great, but Rapp seems out of place and a bit off his game. I would have rather heard her do it with Skinner.

Or if you wanted to really have two people scream the hell out of it...Lauren Kennedy.

As it stands, half of this version is AMAZING. I agree with whoever pointed out "Who's in your bed..." that Alice sure can scream.
Andrew, tonight isn't about you! It isn't even about me!!! - [FD]
