Anthony Rapp Walked By Me Today--Twice!

So I went to an audition today at Chelsea Studios (the audition was bad--don't ask), and they were rehearsing "Feeling Electric" down the hall. I was so excited that I was in the same building as Anthony Rapp, but when I come back from the bathroom, who walks by me--Mr. Rapp himself! We walked by again on his way back to rehearsal, but I was too scared to say anything--no one seemed to recognize who he was! Just wanted to share my happiness. The end.

He's a very friendly man. I'm sure if you said Hello, he would have stopped to speak with you for a few moments.

That's what I hear from my friends, anyway.

I'm the same way around celebrities. I wasn't really able to say much to Anthony at all when I met him after Little Shop and just recently I stuttered asking frikin' Maureen McGovern to sign my CD... I didn't even know of her before Little Women and I still had issues saying anything to her that made any grammatical sense... I think I just have problems in general...

Anthony is, to date, the only person I hold at celebrity status with whom I've been able to hold normal conversation.

Around everybody else, I'm a mute, stammering mess. If I see people randomly around, I can't get myself to say anything - so I'm not sure what it's worth that I was like "oh, Ebonic, you should have!"

No one probably recognized him because, in my opinion at least, he looks different in person than he does in pictures. Or so that's what I thought.

Yay! I was thinking of following him in there, but that'd be awkward--"You're Anthony Rapp right? ...You wash your hands so well." Just like I thought of following Shoshana Bean two weeks ago just...cause....I thought maybe if I bothered her enough she'd sing to get me away?

People recognized him....they just didn't care. They are all performers and on the same level as him for the most part. Nothin against Anthony but when youre on broadway and rehearsing shows you don't stare and gawk at celebrities.

I don't think anybody was staring or gawking. Anthony is an amazing guy who I try to emulate as a performer... if I ever get to Broadway, I figure meeting him would still be a priveledge. No point in being egotistical about it.

God help him if he reads that livejournal community on the Welcome thread. (the second link, not the first one...) What Emcee said, we love you Anthony! You and your insane level of tolerance for our crazy ways. :-P

That's very cool though Ebonics. If it were me (knowing me and my tendency for late reactions/realizations) I probably wouldn't have put a name to the face until 5 minutes later and then I'd do a very belated doubletake. I don't get tonguetied and wobbly around performers or anyone of celebrity status but I also can't usually bring myself to say something in fear of being intrusive or whatever. Logically speaking, it's not a very rational way of thinking but what can I say? Still, you are indeed a lucky duck Ebonics.

Threads gushing about this particular performer are always amusing to me only because I know he's reading it (hi), but uh, yeah... I agree with those who say that you probably would've been met with friendly conversation had you introduced yourself.
