Just wondering if there's any plans in the works for a Patti LuPone "Gypsy" DVD. Attention Santa: that's all I want for Christmas!
The entire show is already on YouTube, and if people want to see it so badly that they're recording and posting bootlegs, I don't see why the producers can't have the cast record it and profit from it.

According to Telecharge.com, when purchasing tickets for the last few performance there is the posibility there me be cameras in the theatre to film it.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This performance of "Gypsy" may be filmed for future purposes. Please be advised that stationary and moving cameras may be placed throughout the theatre as we attempt to capture this historic production on film.
That would be too good to be true.
I hope that means something good!
im pretty sure that this is being taped for PBS's Great Performances, atleast according to some other thread I read here a while back
Great news!
God, this makes me shake!! Hopefully we can get some confirmation!!
Maybe it is only for the Lincoln archive, but I hope not.
Just went on Telecharge and saw the same nottice. I am so excited!
They don't use "moving cameras" to film for the Lincoln Center Archives. I'm also pretty sure it was filmed for the archives while at City Center.
I doubt they'd be filming the video for the Lincoln archives that late in the run.
Plus, aren't archive videos only filmed with stationary cameras? The Telecharge message mentions moving cameras.
Getting ............ dizzy, someone catch me!!
Before anyone gets too excited, note that the TeleCharge disclaimer clearly states: may be filmed for future purposes.
This doesn't confirm anything a simple disclaimer to protect themselves IN CASE they intend on filming the last performance. By posting that disclaimer, they can't be sued or encounter problems afterwards. This is informing ticket buyers in advance about possible obstructions at that performance in the event that it IS filmed.
Here's hoping it is, but you never know with these things.
It shows that the idea has at least been entertained. I'm thinking they have it set & waiting for the investor to come through with the money.

awesome! i was at the show this afternoon. i hope this gets some kind of conformation!
*crosses fingers*
Not that I think it'll translate particularly well to film, but this is a production that I want to remember forever.
I hope to goodness this happens. Not living in new york, I want to have to be able to see patti perform this somehow.
If it does happen, I will be ecstatic. I've been aching to see this production, but I haven't had the time or money to go to New York & I won't be able to see it before it closes. But if there's a DVD made, jackpot!

I would be able to die happy if this got taped. I mean, it will have been enough after I see it in December, but to be able to revisit it whenever I had a few hours to kill? Nothing could top that for me.
Ah, now this is the best news of the week! Perhaps of the decade.
If this is on DVD, I will be the happiest person!!!
