It seems a shame that the hottest ticket in town is in one of the smaller houses. I don't know the intricacies of what needs to happen for a show to change houses, but I think they could make even more money, and tickets might be a little more accessible.

No. It would cost them time and money to move to anoter house. They would have to shut down for at least 2 weeks, restage and rehearse at the new theatre, not to mention loading that set in and out. Plus they ate already sold out and selling tickets through April. Reseating those patrons would be a pain.

No, no it won't.
A) The cost of moving is extraordinary.
B) By playing in a smaller house the tickets are in higher demand. They are able to have a longer run by being in a smaller house.
C) This show is working well in the house it is playing. Many shows can drown in bigger spaces. Shows have to have the right space for the production.

It is ok to quit harping on this subject now.

When Book of Mormon tours the theatres will be plenty big.

The Fox in Atlanta has 4000+ seats. The touring houses in Chicago have 2000+ seats each. The National in DC is comparatively tiny at about 1800 seats.

Leave it in the O'Neill in NY.

When this tours, I wonder if it will only do extended engagements at first. I can't see this only doing five day runs for their first season on the road.

If and when it goes to DC it wont play the National. It will have to choose between the two venues at the KC, either the Eisenhower theater or the Opera house.

The inaccessibility of the tickets is precisely why they don't want to move.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
