I get the impression that it's not so much him wanting to get into TV and film so much as he feels like he has to at this stage of his career, because it's the best way to go right now, at this point. He's not finding anything he can or wants to do in the NYC theater scene, and he needs to work, so he's giving something else a shot.
He'll be releasing another CD toward the end of this year, and has a second leg of his tour in the works for the fall -- so even though he's going to be auditioning for film and TV, he's still going to be doing a lot of music. That's where his heart is. And whatever the hell else he wants to do, more power to him, but I just hope he never, ever stops singing.

Yeah, I agree there isn't much for him on Broadway or in the upcoming season it seems. He has a very unique voice - that rocker type voice - which doesn't fit well into a show like A Chorus Line or Grey Gardens.
I wish RENT were done by a different director, it could have been so much more.
Even still, that wouldn't change the fact that he's not truly cut out for film, on a lot of levels.
You should hear him sing What I Did for Love, speaking of ACL.
Yeah... even if they aren't writing shows for him (and I disagree with this, I think there are plenty of projects out there that would love to get a voice like Adam Pascal attached) I think he should stick with Broadway or at least music. He's not much of an actor. I imagine he sees acting as a means to an end of getting his music more recognition. Whatever path he takes in life I suppose he just needs to keep chuggin' at it. Evem Tom Cruise needs good pr.

I was wondering when his new cd would be released, I had remembered him mentioning that he was working on it when it was on The Tony Danza show in the Fall for RENT. I'm excited for that new cd to be released.
There is a clip of him singing What I Did for Love on good ol' youtube. I love what he's done with the song. I think he sounds great singing it.

I went on Ticketmaster and search for tickets for his July 29 show. Only 22 days before the concert and I found second row center still. That doesn't bode too well for any kind of sell-out.

emcee, maybe you'll know - is his new CD along the lines of Civilian? Or is it his arrangements of various showtunes? As you know, his "Maybe This Time" is love.

I wish it would be showtunes.
JarNerdAV - were you searching for single seats? That could be why. It doesn't mean it isn't selling well, but there's usually some single seats here and there.
No I was searching for 2 tickets.

Oh, well still. Who knows. I hope you'll post a review of the show.
I just don't see him being on "Friends."
That's because Friends ended 2 years ago.
He'd be a GREAT Fiyero
In response to the comment about ticket sales, when I found out about this, my first thought was "well, it's nice to know they're publicizing this." It's not on his official website, on his MySpace, or *anything*. I don't think it's a matter of Adam not being a good sell, but that... how are people supposed to know about this? That bugs me. I'm tempted to start a separate thread that has a more enticing title, and one that *says* he's got a performance coming up.
So, if you live in the area, tell your friends. And GOOOOOO.
Timote, it's the kind of stuff he's been doing on the tour, with the scaled-down arrangements; piano, vocals and guitar only. I'm not sure what's going to be on it in terms of new originals, old originals and showtune covers, though. Hopefully a bit of everything!
Hell, I still think he should have been Marius or Enjolras in the Les Mis revival. That would have been so weird. In a good way.
Aaanyway, I agree with most of what's been said on here. i'm not a big fan of Adam's acting, but I do like his voice. And I just think he seems to connect to his characters THROUGH the music more than anything else, so whether or not he's the typical fit for musical theatre, it does seem to be the type of acting he's more cut out for. Maybe he should have just stuck around here?
Also (and this is NOT meant to be snarky, I swear), shouldn't he get some acting lessons? Or a coach to work with a little? I remember reading a few times that he's never had any acting training (or voice training, for that matter), and I just think he'd benefit because he has potential...It couldn't hurt in getting him any jobs.
I take the publicity comment back; I just logged into MySpace and they've sent out a bulletin and put up an "upcoming shows" section.
I think he's had some training since those interviews, BroadwayGirl. Even if he's still not great, he *has* gotten better, and I don't think he would've shown as much growth as he has just on his own. He wouldn't have developed better skills by just sitting on his couch, you know? Maybe more of it would make him more marketable for TV and film, though. Meh to this whole thing.

I agree about the training, BroadwayGirl. It certainly can't hurt! However, I don't agree about Les Mis... he's much too old
And thanks emcee!
He looks young
I want this CD noooooow.
I personally have never seen Adam live, but based on his voice, I think he would make an interesting Robbie Hart in Wedding Singer...
I actually [was ashamed to admit that I] thought the same thing when I saw it. It's not a great part either, but it looked like something he could have a lot of fun with!
I am wondering whether you are judging his acting on Rent (live and the film) and Aida alone, because it is quite probable his acting was based on how he was directed (broad musical theatre acting). I saw him on an episode of Cold Case on CBS and thought he was a notch above the usual guest star acting (even though it was an episode about--once again--musical theatre). I think the fact that he has such a photogenic face would be to his benefit in the film and television industry. But I agree, if he turned his back on Broadway altogether, it would be a really sad thing.
Personally, my judgement comes from all three media; I've seen two of his three Broadway ventures live, all of them in some capacity, all of his film roles, his TV appearance on Cold Case, and I've seen him do a short straight play. Knowing his body of work, though, I think it's easy to see an improvement, even if he's still not *great*. He's certainly not awful. The issue with LA is not that he's not talented enough to get stuff, because frankly, there are film actors with *way* less talent, but I think it's about his age in comparison to the age at which most people embark upon Hollywood careers. He is *extremely* photogenic, but someone I was talking to once made an interesting point in that his features are a bit too harsh for film. If you've ever seen him in person, there's a big difference between that and how he looked on screen in Rent, say; but you can also see it by looking at photos, or how different he looked on TV versus on a movie screen.
Jar, did you buy those tickets to see him?
I had no idea he moved to LA. That's near my neck of the woods. I would see Wicked a second time to see him perform. I also had no idea about a sitdown production in LA. Is that for sure?
***I just saw there is already a thread on the Wicked question.

I'm going to go directly to the theatre box office to buy them and avoid Tickemaster's ridiculous charges. It's on my way home from work.
Please post about the show!
Hey Emcee,
I am sorry to be off topic here but all of a sudden I feel like the worst Adam fan ever. What short straight play was he in?
Thanks
