Posted: 11/10/07 at 2:44amI was wondering if any of you were going to join the picket lines in support of the union. I am. I wanted to know if there were any other broadway fans who were.

Absolutely not, the reason there are no shows is because the union chose to strike.
Their walk out affects many more people who have no choice to have their lives affected

Posted: 11/10/07 at 9:46amAbsolutely not. This effects a lot more people then this uninion. They dont care ablout the city that they work in so why should I care about them. .this will effect restaraunts, taxis, stores. It would even put a members of their own union out of jobs after the strike. I hope the city brings up a lawsuit like they did with the taxi strike.

the tourist show should throw tomatoes at the strikers, they screwed the town by this strike and the real effect wont be felt for weeks as consumers pick other places to do their holiday shopping... I also fear this might be longer than 4 days ..hope not
Its a shame to seem peoples year long plans to come visit New York be ruined by this strike. both sides should have worked harder to avoid this.
I am sure advance sales will tank some shows might not survive this

Posted: 11/10/07 at 10:42amIf you aren't a member of Local One, why would you join a picket line? It's not your fight. Clearly this is something that these two parties need to figure out. I support Local One as a theatrical union member myself, but I'm not going to join a picket line. You, as a Broadway fan, can show your support in other ways that will be more productive for you, the union, and theater in general.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 10:58amThe best we can do is hope talks resume ASAP and a fair resolution is reached. Otherwise, it's not our fight.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 10:59amYeah, this really is specific union battle. I might swing by and honk my car horn or drop off some food or something, but I don't seeit as my duty to picket, thoughI do support them all the way.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 2:02pmIf I were in NYC I would be on the lines. I fully support the stagehands in their descision to strike and hope that this makes the leauge understand that they wont be getting away with any of the hording greedy ways.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 2:03pmActually, a lot of struggling shows still have shows and will be helped by the strike. Tourists that can only see certain shows will go to those shows rather than have nothing to do. I am sure "Xanadu" and "Spelling Bee" will benefit from this.
