Has anyone seen Tarzan recently? I love to hear any update and if the show has been freezed yet.
For those who hate the show and has already express the hate toward the show many times, I understand and have accepted your opinion. There is no need to keep repeating it.
I'm only interested in the changes during these two weeks.
Thanks.
I haven't seen it, but a friend who works at the show said that most of the dialogue has changed and that its not frozen yet.
I'm seeing it tomorrow, I'll let you know then.

I can't get tickets to it. I seem to be having a problem. I was going to try for 8:00 pm on May 20th. Can someone help me?

What kind of help do you want?
Help yourself. Don't get them. You'll save yourself $120 - a ticket and a bottle of Excedrin migraine. You're not missing out. Consider yourself lucky.

Oh, thanks. I have tickets to Drowsy and Wedding Singer that weekend. I changed my mind. Besides all the tickets were going to Visa people and I have AMEX.

Tons, and tons, and tons of changes as of last night. They had a four day break and they really cracked down and went to work. It's so different! The dialogue and lyrics. I just love it.

I am going tonight. My first time seeing it.
Brace yourself for sheer pain.

(i know... i'm pathetic :-P)
How are people still excited for this? You'd be more entertained counting the number of bricks on the exterior of the theatre.

I saw it for the first time last night (Thurs 4/27) and I thought it was great. For those Sondheim only fans, you'll hate it ( and don't get me wrong Into the Woods and Sweeny Todd are two of my favorite shows). It's Phil Collins and it's pop music. But I loved it. There were a few slow/weird parts with some dialogue and song here and there, but overall it was wonderful. Everyone's voices are just flat out amazing. Josh Strickland's acting was pretty crappy (his singing was great), and for me that was the only downfall.

Thanks for all the update.
I'm going to see this weekend too. I guess it will not be a final product after all. Hopefully, I will like it.
Munk, has anyone ever explained to you the difference between previews and shows after opening night? Do you know what the term "frozen" means as it relates to the preview process? I know you're an off Broadway guy, but I imagine they even teach this stuff in the minor leagues. If you do understand these terms why are you continuously bashing a show still not frozen while in previews? Does it give you some kind of rush you're not getting out of your own life?

In Munk's defense, I also thought Tarzan was crap. My opinion went from salvagable to they shouldn't even try. It's major flaws lie in the book and music. It's good to hear they're doing book revisions, but the music is still the problem. Even LESTAT had one or two memoriable, original songs.
What I do for a living, or don't do for a living doesn't make my opinion any more or less valid. You've yet to reveal what your chosen profession is.
And I post about TARZAN only with the hopes that my messages will find their way to you.
And now, they don't tell us what previews and frozen means off broadway. Previews? Frozen? Do enlighten me, I'm just so ignorant when it comes to the workings of Broadway.
Have you even SEEN Tarzan yet? Go put a bullet through your head.

For those of you who will be seeing the show soon, for the first time or the twentieth (liotte), I expect full, detailed reviews, dripping with spoilers and info on the changes.
gboogie, would you mind telling more specifics about the tons and tons of changes? Every bit of my exposure to this show comes from you guys so far, so thank you for keeping those of us who live a million miles from Broadway informed!!
Munk, you seem to have a to of time during the day....between jobs maybe?
Yes. Just left my temping job, now I'm off to clean someone's apartment. After that I go take tickets at the Circle Line, and after that I mop the floors at Macy's.
Saw it last night, and loved it. Form your own opinion and go see it!
Munkey, that's not far off from what I thought. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps a little more effort into the career and a little less posting on message boards and success might come a little quicker. Keep your head up.
