Thank you for your inspirational words. I'm really going through a hard time right now. I just want to be like John Strickland. I don't mind scrubbing floors, I really don't. It's just that...when my parents left me 9 years ago they left me with this silver locket, and they kept the over half - so if they ever found me again, they'd know that I was their Annie.
Annie?
ANNIE?!?!!?
It is really you???
Munk and Yankee- The original poster specifically asked people like you to stay away from this thread. We KNOW you don't like Tarzan and think it's crap. You both have said it multiple times on every single Tarzan thread that exists. You have told everyone to save their money and that you'd rather die than see it again. We get it.
Now let those of us who enjoy the show show our appreciation without your negative comments coming in on every single Tarzan thread.
ETA: And for the record, I am FAR from seeing the show 20 times!!

When will photos be released or posted online? I doubt I am going to see it, but I really want to see the sets, etc.

I can't wait to hear everyone's reactions to the show this weekend. I've been following the process thanks to your comments and its fun to read whats changing. I'm seeing "Tarzan" over memorial day weekend.

I was underwhelmed by tonight's performance. I'll try to make a review later.

my review will be posted on thursday when i'm home... i know some people are waiting to read that cuz i've been so vocal about being anxious for it :-P
1. I completely 100% agree with Munk- I thought the show was abysmal. Rarely do I think a musical is as completely irredeemable as Tarzan. (Poor sweet Jenn Gambatese)
2. With that said, I think it's great if you're excited for the show... go see it and form your own opinion. If you enjoy it, good for you. You're (of course) allowed.
3. Why someone would be attacked for sharing their honest opinion is beyond me. Munk has a very discerning eye, and is always honest and knowledgable in his opinions on the board... He saw Tarzan, and then shared his opinions, which just happened to be negative. I like threads that have a difference of opinion, they are the most interesting and you tend to learn the most from them.

Production photos have already been taken. Over the last few weeks the photographer was there. As to when they will be released - your guess is as good as mine. The program will be out in June as well as the cast recording. The cast went into the studio on Tuesday.
As far as changes go, I'd really hate to ruin it for anyone. But there were indeed more changes tonight. Mostly lighting changes tonight, though. It's really coming along beautifully and It truly is a completely different show than last week or before. I think people should check it out after opening.
Word on the street is that it will be frozen by Tuesday, May 2nd. So that the Tony people can come and see it before the Tony cut-off, May 10th (which is also opening night).
I really, really enjoy this show and I'm glad to see it coming along so nicely. :)

GREAT to hear it, gboogie. Oh, and liotte--when I said you'd seen the show 20 times, I didn't mean that condescendingly...I meant I knew you had seen it multiple times and was comparing that to someone who had only seen it once. I only WISH I could see it 20 times!
No worries Rentaholic, I didn't take it condescendingly (is that a word?)!
cool the day that im seeing it it'll be frozen! So, i see the way it'll be. Woohoo can't wait for tuesday

Yes, there have been a LOT of changes, but I love it! The dialogue has changed like crazy in several scenes.
I do have to agree with Liotte though. I have no problem with people having opinions of the show, I'm not expecting everyone to like it. But there's a line that should be drawn between stating your opinion and trying to smother everyone else with it.
It's a public message board. If we started a "I Hate Tarzan" thread, you'd pop your heads in and state your opinions even if we asked you not to. Don't go to a message board if you can't handle the negative about your favorite shows. Save the shilling for drama club.

Actually, I wouldn't. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I have friends who hate shows I love (and love shows I hate) and insult them on a regular basis, who cares? It's not that I "can't handle the negative", it's that I think it's rude to blatantly ignore someone's SPECIFIC request. And that works both ways.
Since when do we get to decide who posts in our threads? Start your own board if you want your own rules.
I also wouldn't go post in an I hate Tarzan thread. I don't hate Tarzan, that's not the place for me.
Even is there was a thread for a show that I hated, I wouldn't post in it. I think it's just rude. People involved with a show work their asses off, and deserve credit for just getting to and being on Broadway. If I don't like a show, I just won't comment on it. I guess being a nice person and optimist, I can find something positive to say even about those shows that I hated. Let those who like it show their appreciation.
Deserve credit? If you get X amounts of points do you get to be in a better show?
So exactly how many broadway shows have you been in? Written? Produced? Composed?
That has no bearing on the validity of my (or anyone else’s) opinions. I imagine, you haven't been on Broadway either, but since your opinion is positive it has more weight?
Why do we have to praise people for working hard? I work hard at my job, but when I or anyone else is doing a bad job, we are told so. Your defense makes no sense. This is just further proof that Broadway is becoming more of a stage door than a legit place for great art to thrive and bad theatre to die quickly.
I think too many of you develop personal attachments to Broadway stars and can’t separate yourself from that.

If this were a general Tarzan post, or one asking for opinions, I would say knock yourselves out. But this was a post with a specific question, which specifically asked that people NOT post their negative opinions.
I'm not making my own rules. I'm talking about common courtesy. Look it up.
It has absolutely nothing to do with attachment to any particular person/people.
I acknowledge that people who work on Broadway, whether cast, crew, musicians, creative team, etc, are all hard workers. It doesn't matter if I know them or not. They were successful in getting a show to Broadway. If it only runs for 1 night before it closes, it may not have been a success monetarily, but at least they got there. There is a lot that is involved with a show before it even gets to Broadway, and I am commenting on that aspect. Give people some credit for making it, at least.
And sorry to hear that you are just told bad things at your job. Jobs in which people are given praise, or constructive criticism (if they are doing something wrong or not to their supervisor's liking), are usually much better and more likeable. Perhaps if you had someone giving you positive feedback more often, you wouldn't have the need to be so negative and pessimistic to everyone else as well.
You make no sense, but good luck with this thread guys.
