I was one of the lucky 25 (out of 280) Ovation Award voters to get my ticket today for the February 21 performance of this absolutely sold out run. (There are some very pricey "premium" seats left but that's all.) I feel very fortunate to have logged on just after the tickets were made available, because they were only offering seats to the first 25 who called in. I'm really looking forward to this star studded production, and there's to be a post-play discussion with the cast on the night I attend. I'd be glad to post my impressions afterwards.

It's ok - didn't find it a great production, but not a bad one either. At the end of the day, its still Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, despite the starry cast. And how you react to it will depend on how much you enjoy Chekhov.

That said, the actors are all wonderful, particularly Alfred Molina as Lopakhin and Sarah Paulson as Varya. Annette Bening was just fine as Ranyevskaya but she was still just being 'Anette.' The production design was fairly drab - a whole bunch of wooden planks.

All in all, not totally exciting. But not bad either.
