Not for Wicked, but for another show that played at that theatre, and the rear mezzanine is fine as long as you're in the center section.
I've stayed there since March. it's pretty cozy. I have to hide from the ushers after each show though, which is kinda annoying.
I agree with its coziness, but the lease is terrible. Did not renew that sucker.

I was either in the upper mid or the rear mezz when I saw it the first time in the center and I didn't think it was THAT bad. I definitely felt closer than I did in the dress circle at the Hilton.
I learned from City Center that by and large, the height/distance issue isn't nearly as bad IMHO as some people on here make it out to be.

I sat in the second section of the mezzanine and it was still a decent view. But then again we did have theatre glasses which we used quite frequently. If I were to se it again I would not sit in this section...normally I like mezzanine seats, but this one seemed very far away from the stage.

- I feel once you sit in the rear gallery of City Center. You can handle ANY balcony of the regular Broadway theaters. People overreact about that kind of stuff.
I guess it's nice to stay in the Rear Mezz, but I prefer the Marriot Marquis in Times Square.
(har de har har...)
I sat in the second row center of the mezzanine for WICKED and thought it was so far away. I would recomend getting the $55 side orchestra seats which are considered partial view but you don't miss much at all.
I found this on the Stephen Schwartz website. I found it useful:
SEATING ADVICE:
Close Orchestra seats are best for the best views of the cast members' facial expressions. The best are rows B - L. I've seen the show many times and found I don't feel as involved with it when I sit in the Mezz. Front few rows of Mezz are probably fine. The Mezzanine starts above row N of orchestra.
Broadway's Gershwin Theatre holds over 1700 people and is both wide and deep. There are no pillars to obstruct viewing but some side seats are being sold as obstructed views because of the angle and the set.

I agree with ljay889's sentiments. Once the show starts, you forget how far and high up you are.
If you book the entire weekend, you get a discount.
Huh?
It's really not that bad. And I agree with ljay889 about the rear gallery of City Center
