From the TKTS website about WICKED:
"Casting News: Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Ben Vereen and Carol Kane are no longer in the show."
Does anyone besides me think this is hysterical? Personally, I feel it shows how obsessed people can be, and how ignorant the general public can be...
Anyone have any other funny examples?
I was at Phantom once in 2005 and someone thought they'd be seeing Michael Crawford.
Haha wow, I think that might even be worse...
I always here people asking;
Who is Richard Rogers playing in TARZAN?
Well he's playing Tarzan of course... There were rumors that this guy Strickland would play him, but those were false. Everyone knows this...
Hahaha
What would be sad is if someone thought they were seeing Gerard Butler in PHANTOM.... on Broadway!
I think its hysterical when people see the gold commerative mark
in front of the Imperial and say that they thought "Les Mis" HAD closed.
It is funny . . . but let's keep in mind not everyone follows Broadway like us. I'm just glad people know who Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith are!
Broadway Blog: A (Hopefully) Intelligent Discussion on Broadway
It's right up there with the millions asking those poor show merchandisc vendors when picking up the original cast recording CD on the table:
"...is this the same cast we/I just saw?"
NOTE: I know this doesn't apply to new shows when indeed the original cast is still performing in the show -- this applies to older shows like CHICAGO, HAIRSPRAY, RENT, MAMMA MIA! and yes...even THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
