Seeing her tomorrow night. I hope, I hope, I hope she sings "Not a Day Goes By."

I'll be there Saturday!

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

She's just astonishing. She sang songs from her adolescence and teenage years: "Anyone Who Had A Heart," "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be," "I Think I Love You"...

She imbued them with the gravitas and commitment one normally puts int performing Sondheim.

It was so much fun.

Absolutely loved it! Here's my (humble!) review :

Someone write this woman a show already! She hasn't originated a role since Mother? Am I correct?

jv92, that's not entirely true- though it wasn't a full out musical, Mazzie originated the role of Claudia Roe in ENRON a few years ago.

I'd still love to see her take on Margaret Johnson in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA somewhere.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I think she'd be a fabulous Margaret in PIAZZA. She was devastatingly brilliant in NEXT TO NORMAL. I liked the show more because it was a really surprising and refreshing show when Ripley and Co. were in it. (Meaning, I liked the show itself more than the cast.) When Marin and Jason came in, they took it to a new level.

somethingwicked, I don't know if ENRON counts as originating a role because it started in the west end. I absolutely loved Marin in NEXT TO NORMAL, and I love what I have heard of her Margaret in CARRIE. Her voice is in top shape. I can't wait to see what she does next...

When my goodbye post was removed: “but I had a great dramatic finish!!!!”
