You know, I caught those commercials at least 12 times, in all of their many versions, and yet not one answered the question: why were they playing the song "Viva Las Vegas" in a commercial for a show called Viva Laughlin?

This was a fun indie edgy Musical Drama here in the UK called Viva Blackpool , im pretty horrified its been remade grrr

And I am guessing they played Viva Las Vegas because it's set in Vegas?

It's set in Vegas and the main characters last name is Laughlin. Hence Viva Laughlin. Either way DUMB. Hugh is a producer and in a 5 episode story arc and then out.
Plus I heard that this was originally not picked up and then all of a sudden there were the commercials.

It was announced during the upfronts in May that it was picked up. I'll watch it because of Hugh Jackman but from the commercials it doesn't look great. I'm not familiar with Viva Blackpool - Will there be singing?

it looked like singing in the "moulin rouge" (sp?) style. Like old pop songs that go along with the plot.
