The show is so addictive, I must say. If you've had a crappy day/week and you see the show, you'll feel so much better after leaving the Helen Hayes... And at 90 minutes, it's such a negligible time commitment. Run, don't walk, to see this show.

Well...I saw the shows and honestly it's no where near the top of my list of favorite shows. It was ok, I liked some scenes (whenever Cheyenne was on stage and about 3 or 4 songs), but the rest of the time I was a little bored, and I didn't think it was THAT funny. I know a lot of people love the show so I would say go ahead and get the tickets because you might enjoy it. I'm glad I saw it, but won't go again.

I could not have said it better. I totally agree.

Even after everything I've just said (via what was said by alex2155), if I had to choose between Xanadu and Spring Awakening that choice would be easy. Xanadu without a doubt.

All I've seen is a crappy online video, but i'm addicted. It's hillarious! It is almost impossible not to laugh...
A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

re: Anyone disappointed with Xanadu?

Disappointment is relative with a show like this. It's not great art, it's not great theatre and if I had to make a decision between this and SA, I'd go with SA.

However (and it's a big however), I cannot remember the last time I had as much fun at a Broadway show. The onstage seats definitely enhanced my enjoyment, but the whole atmosphere and loopy tone of the show make it a joy to watch. Yes, there are some dead spots, but overall, it's just so much fun.

Agree. Personally, I would pick just about anything out there right now over "SA", but thats just me.

re: Anyone disappointed with Xanadu?

I was disappointed with the music, which I found bland and forgetable back in the 1980's. However...I still had a wonderful time.

I'd see it again, though my boyfriend didn't care for it.

re: Anyone disappointed with Xanadu?

I guess I'm in the minority that didn't love it. I thought Kerry was excellent and Cheyenne very good, but the rest of the show really underwhelmed me and sometimes annoyed me. I paid $30 for my tickets and that felt about right. I would have definitely felt ripped off had I paid $120 per ticket.

ETA: But the crowd I was there with was screaming like they were witnessing the greatest thing since sliced bread, so chances are you'll like it.
