I have been to one closing performance once - The Boy From Oz, a show which began with bad reviews ( as WIW) but it eventually found its audience and thrived on word of mouth and the close bond among cast, crew, and producers - so it was one unforgettable, heady, and wonderful experience.
If I could ( I live in Asia), I would be at the closing performance of THE WOMAN IN WHITE. But I expect it would be a different emotional experience. For one, I would miss Michael Ball's role in making the dramatic musical such an appealing show. And I would probably feel that while the performers go through the motions, that there would be an underlying sadness because the show did not find its audience. It might be too sad!
But I hope the cast find new shows and happier times!
