It's still just general admission, right? Do you pick where you want to go and seat yourself or does someone take you to a specific seat? I'm going next week so I just want to be prepared. Thanks!

Individual tickets are general admission but you get an assigned seat when you get to the theatre. So, no you do not have a choice where you seat. It is the luck of the draw, really.

If you take a cab, don't rely only on the address, as the street numbering in Arlington is very confusing. Bring the directions from the web site, but also always mention SHIRLINGTON VILLAGE. Almost all cabbies will know "Shirlngton" even if they don't know Signature Theatre. There is only one relatively small commercial strip in Shirlington, so if you can get there, you can find the theatre. And no problem getting there early and dining, or having a drink, because as someone said, there are about 1,000,000 cool places to eat and drink within a block or so.

If the cabbie wants a street, tell them 28th Street in Shinrlington Village. If you say S. Stafford, they get really confused (especially after they put it in their GPS even when you tell them not to).

I saw Witches of Eastwick last night. I Just thought I would give you an update on the advice everybody has given me.

First, I absolutely loved the show. I was disappointed that Mark Kudisch was out. I am going to see the show again on July 12, hoping for better luck.

After the show. I waited in the lobby for the cast. I met three of the leads, and many of the rest of the cast. I was disappointed that I did not get to meet Emily Skinner. I waited for nearly 30 minutes for her. Finally, I was told by one of the staff that she left another way. I didn't know there was another way out. Has this happened to anyone else?

I am hoping for better luck when I see the show again on July 12.

When I left the theater, I didn't see any cabs right away. I called Arlington Red Top, and they told me it would be 20-30 minutes for one to arrive. Fortunately, a Yellow cab showed up about 3 minutes later. It's not too hard to get a cab if you keep on your toes.

Emily goes out the back door which is kinda upsetting but Christine and Jacquline are so very nice! I adored then when they came out and they chat you up like you are friends.

I still say the seating sucks the way it is right now but who am I to judge when the show is wonderful.
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

God love Emily, but she needs to have some sort of respect for her fans. I think she ran out the back when I saw it too. I was more interested in seeing Piro and Noll anyway, who are truly class acts, but I felt badly for the people who waited for Emily.

I think Mike Myers put it best when he said he always thanks his fans because "you are my boss and I never forget that."

Just for the record, Emily doesn't always go out the back door. When we saw the show a couple of weeks ago, Emily came out after the show, as did the others, and was perfectly gracious.

Nearly every time I have seen Emily in a show, she has been very gracious to her fans. Just because she did not come out on a few instances does not mean anything about her respect for her fans. It is not like it is a requirement. She does her job.

Believe me, I respect Emily's decision to leave another way. I know she's not paid to meet the fans.

Funny thing is (and I forgot to mention this earlier), I actually saw her coming into the theater before the show yesterday. She saw me with my MAME hat on, and smiled. I was going to go up to her, but it would have been akward. I had nothing for her to sign, and it would have been strange to ask for a picture without getting a playbill signed at least. I have the one from last night now, and will walk up to her if
I see her before the show in July.

I can look on this as an excuse to see the show, and most likely see Mark Kudisch this time (not that I need one).

FeelingElectric- Hope you get to see Mark. Casting him was a perfect decision. How did you like his understudy, Thomas Simpson? I saw both; I preferred Mark, but appreciated the good performance that the understudy gave. He had a nice tone to his voice and some good acting choices.

I thought Thomas gave a very good performance. He tripped up on a few lines of dialogue, but was flawless in the musical numnbers. I loved his chemistry with Christiane in "Waiting for the Music to Begin".

Still, nobody is quite like Marc Kudich. That is why I have to see this again, with Marc hopefully on.

I will go off-topic one more time.

It now appears I know why Marc missed on Thursday night:

I really hope he ends up being in the finished product.

I went and saw the show again last night (I wrote a review in the Witches of Eastwick-Signature Theater thread). I met everybody after the show tonight!

I have a travel tip if you are getting to Signature by way of public transportation . I took the 7 Metrobus between Shirlington and the Pentagon Metro station with no sweat. the line runs just about every hour, 7 days a week. For the evening shows, It will get you the Metro in plenty of time before it closes (the bus was 10 minutes late, and I still got there with 30 minutes to spare), and it is way cheaper than a cab.
