I haven't seen anybody so much as mention this show. I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan, so I might like it. I have heard nothing about it at all. Is it a revue-type show or a bio-musical like "Walk the Line" or an original story like "All Shook Up"?

I am very sad to hear that this is just a concert-style revue show. What's the point?

Just sat through Act One at the matinee today. The performances were good...but there is no story to speak of,just the songs (they worked backward...the last song he wrote is first and the first song is last in the show) with the performers acting out things. It doesn't tell Johnny Cash's story, but just random stories. It's not a bad show...but I hear that Act Two feels really looong. The audience was packed today...I'm sorry I didn't get to see Act Two (had to be back at work for a meeting).

i can't really answer that because before Saturday, February 11th, I had never heard a Johnny Cash song before, but if I had to guess, some were full songs, others were shortened versions.

A friend of mine saw it a week ago and said peole were walking out in the middle of act one and a lot of people left at intermission. He said he would have left at intermission also but couldn't.

Not long, it seems apparent. So much money down the drain.

I'm seeing it next month. I adore Cash, but I'm not sure how his music would work in a show. I'm not optimistic about this format at all. His romance with June is one of the great romances of all time... something that Walk The Line, with its' Behind the Music simplification of his descent into drug use, missed out on.

I don't know anyone with the show, so I can't see getting any comps.

What's their rush policy?

Can anyone confirm that this policy is the same for Doubt?

I just saw Ring of Fire Thursday night.I was not expecting much from it because of what I have read about it.I was absolutely blown away.Thi show is just so full of life. The songs are re-created so amazingly by the band and the actors. The set is absolute beautiful and the projections are perfect. It is overall an amazing experience.I have never been to a show where you had so many occasions to really get into the songs and clap along.I told the Producer (Who was in attendance Thursday night) all this when I had the chance to talk to him after the show.I am going to very dissapointed if this show does not AT LEAST get a Tony nomination for best musical if not pull an upset over Jersey Boys and win it.I know that would be a long shot for in because it has no Book and no one real stand out perfomer(although I believe the combination of performers is a strength of this show), but I remember no one gave Avenue Q a chance aginst Wicked either. In any event, I hope it has a long run.

You can get a ticket from tdf or possibly, one of the papering services (I've done both for ROF)

According to the box office, there's a good chance rush will start after opening

[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

The Ring of Fire (aka WHAT'S GOING ON?) was a 2-and-a-half hour Johnny Cash ho-down, with elements of Lennon, Sweeney, and Woman in White.

Not that I dislike those three shows, but this show was painfully boring and confusing as hell. The two guys behind me, when the second act was about to start, and the cast members were onstage, one of them said, "Okay, now before you start singing, WHAT'S GOING ON?!" There's barely any dialogue, and it's VERY hard to follow.
