Now I am almost 100% sure this isnt a part of the show and if it is then I feel dumb but whatever. During the second act when Kristen is singing and going crazy with the whip, the whip got tangled in her hat and she couldnt get it out. She started to laugh and couldnt even finish the song so she turned around and just wiggled her butt. The audience went nuts for it! One of the characters had to come on and untangle her which took a little while. I love seeing little mistakes like that, it really reminds you that this is LIVE theater.
The show overall was wonderful, I love love love the simplicity of it all. Some of my friends thought it was a little dated, but I fell in loe with the whole show. I had come in knowing the first act already but wow, those two are incredible. I'm so happy I got to see this show before it closes and I cant wait to 110 in the shade now!!

Nope that isn't in the show. She usually gets tangled in her whip a little on purpose but never that much.
It's actually happened before. However, I don't know if it occurs on a regular basis.
That reminded you that you were in "live" theatre?
Since her reviews have been mixed she is playing all the cards.
I GOT WHAT YOU WANT is a great song and needs no "tricks".
I respect her talent but this show was such a let down for me.
I hope her TONY "slot" goes to a more deserving actress this year.
Block, Bundy or Munk perhaps....

CurtainPullDowner, most of the reviews in publications were positive towards Chenoweth. It's the Broadway fans that are mixed.
and who pays for tickets?
The critics or the fans?
The show is on TDF all the time.

All I'm saying is that you're twisting things in a way that agrees with your opinion. Just don't be surprised if she gets a Tony nomination.
Oh.. She will.
But I don't agree with that.

From what I hear, I'm not sure if she does either. But it's only the Tony's.
perhaps this thread should be retitled. "Apple Tree Accident Tonight". coming right on the heels of "Evan Pappas: Condition" is a bit much....
CurtainPullDowner, you've made your point in thread after thread. The mixed reviews Chenoweth has received have been from YOU. The critics were mostly positive about her performance, but you seem to have some vengeance against her (perhaps jealousy?). Whatever it is, we get your point, though many of us disagree with it so you feel the need to consistently shove it back into our faces. We've all heard it at least 12 times already. Move on. I happen to think that Chenoweth is fabulous in this very understated production and I'd be very surprised if she does not receive a Tony nomination.
When I saw it, I forget the song it happened during but Kristin had a solo and during it Marc walked in from the back with the tiger and tripped. Kristin said "You know, there's a step there." Then she started laughing hysterically, didn't finish the rest of the song, and at the end said "sorry" and got more appaulse than she would have if she actually had sang it.
Good Lord, this show sounds like it is just falling apart performance after performance. Is there a stage manager around? A director? Does anybody really care about keeping the show together? It sounds like a group of dissatisfied performers giving up and giving in to crowd pleasing but nonetheless undisciplined boredom.

When I think of "accident," I think of something bad happening.
The first thing I thought is that the 10 foot high throne fell over with her and Walter still on top.
Hey WannaBe.
I am not the only person who feels this is just not Cheno's best work. And the way the audiences have been, word of mouth must agree. This is one of the least attented ROUNDABOUT shows ever.
Jealous? uh no, I like her but i do not want to be her.
"This is one of the least attented ROUNDABOUT shows ever."
Really? Just because Downer thinks Ms.Chenoweth doesn't deserve a Tony nomination doesn't mean he is jealous of her.
'and who pays for tickets?

So is 'Grey Gardens.' your point?
Curtainpulldowner doesn't like many shows.
I think I've figured it out. Curtainpulldowner and Matthew Murray are the same person.
However, I do agree that the Apple Tree is, overall, a second rate production. The leads are all doing so well, but the more I hear about it, the chintzier and cheaper it sounds.
I personally think the show is highly underrated. The show itself is not a masterpiece, the Passionella act stands out as particularly weak and the one in which Chenoweth doesn't fare as well. The production values do have a sense of summer stock.
Having said that, I thought the performances were first-rate and do wonders with the material. The Apple Tree is a vehicle for the female lead and Chenoweth does amazing work in here, her Eve is hilarous, strong-minded, and ultimately touching (She's at her strongest during "What Makes Me Love Him"). Her Barbara is also incredibly funny and I particularly love the physical comedy during "I Got What You Want." D'Arcy James gives a great performance as well and Marc Kudisch is of course his brilliant-self. I don't get all the negative comments against Chenoweth and this production, I had a great time.
When I saw Annie Get Your gun, Tom Wombat(sp) forgot to put on the metals that his character was going to give to Annie. When that part of the scene came, he realized what he has done and said,"Oh sh*t!" ,and then they both totally lost it. It was fun to see Bernadette Peters break character, and laugh her ass off.
I loved the show, personally. It was a lot of fun. Maybe it doesn't hold up so well in some areas, but it feels more retro than dated to me, and Kristen is great in it!
It's funny this happened, because I remember seeing Wicked, and she got her HAIR tangled during Popular.
Is it official she's gonna be in Young Frankenstein?
Last rumour was she has dropped out of Y,F.
I don't know who Matthew Muray is, I really don't.
And i like some shows,
Especially if there is nudity involved.
