April 2016 NY Theater openings -- which do you most want to see?

Looking to see Cagney



Saw The Father last Sunday and seeing Shuffle tonight.Vincent is always a possibility as well.

Did not notice Long Day's but we have Access 10 tickets for it.

A Streetcar Named Desire? Where is that playing?

Ah, ok. Looks good.

(Not that this matters, but while Streetcar begins performances in April, it doesn't officially open until May 1 -- so not listed in a post about April openings.)

I'm excited to see waitress, shuffle along and she loves me

i follow the pipeline of Broadway bound musicals

and it seems to me like all the new shows that thought they were ready for spring 2016 found a theater

Also on a practical basis the summer fall 2015 was the strongest since I can remember

fiddler Hamilton on your feet color purple and school of Rock are all going strong sales and reviews wise so those are five major theater slots not available to new shows

if anything Hamilton and the strong shows from h2 may have slowed a few London transfers like miss Saigon and maybe Charlie and the chocolate factory

many of us from outside NYC haven't seen the fall 15 shows so trying schedule a spring trip to see the fall plus new spring musicals is actually a challenge!

Basically avoiding the winter but opening just in time for the Tony cutoff. Most common situation these days. In order to avoid the dread, dead weeks of Winter, Spring productions will schedule to open just before the cutoff in April. To open in March, they'd typically begin previews in February. It can happen - but most often, if things come together for a Spring opening, they'll push it to be as late as possible.
