April Recommendations

April Recommendations#1

So, I'm coming across the pond to New York for two weeks in mid-April this year. A few questions for you all:
1. What shows should I catch?
My wish list so far is:
Mary Poppins
August: Osage County
Little Mermaid (hopefully twice, to catch Heidi and Faith)
South Pacific
Shrek
Guys and Dolls
West Side Story
Blithe Spirit
Exit the King (I saw the original production in Sydney and want to compare)
9 to 5 (if preview tickets are available)

2. Any other shows you recommend?
3. Any of the above to avoid??
4. What is the cheapest way of getting tickets? TKTS/discount codes?

I think technically the cheapest way of getting tickets would be the TKTS booth......but since you are just visiting and have limited time that might not ensure seeing what you want to see when you want to see it. I think www.broadwaybox.com is your best shot. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but at least you'll know what you'll definitely be seeing before you get here. That's just me.
I don't want to recommend a show, because most of them sound like a good idea to me! Good luck!

Billy Elliot, 9 to 5, and West Side Story.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'm with Dramamama: reasons to be pretty. Its like the only play on Broadway this year that isn't front loaded with celebs. The theatre community should be rallying around this one. AND its fantastic. I've been ranting and raving about it for months. One of the best nights of theatre I've ever had. Also would check out In The Heights.
