There was already a quasi-adaptation of Archie, Robert Aguirre-Sacasa's Golden Age is a version of gay fantasia of Archie comics.

I have heard a song that Amanda Green wrote for an Archie musical project. It was Betty and Veronica talking to each other about the cute boy they just met and it turns out to be the same person...Archie. Although i feel like it wasn't for a stage musical...rather a video or something.
