I'd have to say no. Not really. Who looks at the performers? All we care about are the wonderful sets behind them.

And the curtains.
Especially if the show has them and they are at times closed.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:26pmI actually have a cousin who saw a Broadway show (yes, true story, although I can't tell you her name), and she said that she noticed one of her favorite performers during the show and talked about the guy afterwards with her friends. So I'd say yes...I don't know how often it happens, though.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:31pmI have to agree about the curtains. That's the real reason I pay good money to see a show. The curtains.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:31pmWait. Broadway performers? What are those. I've never heard of one... should I get one? Are they a good investment?

I like watching the set pieces magically glide around the stage.
God, that's hot.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:33pmNo! Of course not. What's wrong with you people?

The one bad thing about enjoying the set pieces is that there are often actors standing in front of them and they obscure my view.
Don't you agree?

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:34pmAbsolutely. And what's with all that talking/singing between scene changes? Honestly!?!

Wait - are the performers those people running around and talking over the music? Yeah, I talk about them- hell, I talk TO them - I tell them to shut the hell up so we can hear the damn orchestra already.
And to MOVE AWAY FROM THE SCENERY!! Damn.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:36pmI am also intrigued by the quaint usherettes and their charming accents. Where do they come from, I wonder?

Yup. Melba Moore works at the Belasco and her brother Les S. Moore works at the Music Box. Yup.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:49pmActors standing in front of the sets is where the term "blocking" originated. Every view is partially obstructed with "them" on the stage.

You learn something new every day.
How did the term "follow spot" come to be?

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:53pmWe should probably write a petition and get them to move. Stand BEHIND the sets. Not in front. And to shut their mouths while we're listening to the orchestra.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:54pmlmao- Actors are really just a big stain on the stage. Hence "Follow Spot."

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:57pmhaha- But dogs are so cute! I don't think they could block the scenery nearly as effective.
