I was always intrigued by the term "sailorettes."

Are they like the Rockettes?

No. They're more like croquettes.

Just an appetizer.

I go to shows to check out the wood that the stage is made of. It's so strong and beautiful! How could one even look at anything else, I wonder?

Have you ever tried stroking the wood?

I have! It purrs.

I question the propriety of letting a little girl stroke wood.

It's very soothing. Redwood is the best. Sometimes it smells good too.

Really? That's cool. It only ever hums for me. Don't know why. Do you like to stroke the seats also? One growled at me once. That was disconcerting.

the seats are wonderful!! I love the seats! especailly the red velet ones. Makes me feel like royalty.

and sitting front row is hard. I mean, your closer to the sets (and the wonderful orchestra), but then you have to see the actors spit while singing or talking.

And actors sweating. don't even get me started with that!

Heart- Hums? Well- it must s9ound very pretty. I have never tried stroking chairs- except when I am in the process of sitting down.

Dre- Yes, actors spitting is disgusting. Maybe they are just upset that they are so unloved.

Dre-Yep. The spitting and sweating distracts from the lighting, also. And the lighting only serves to highlight the wood of the stage!

so true! and what about when the stage is painted black and you don't see any wood? now that makes me cry.

I am dead serious when I say the people involved in a show that I admire most are the pit players.

and when people break plates onstage! why!?!?! poor plate. I was a props intern. i know how hard it is to find and get props for the show. and then people break them (either on purpose for the show or accidental.) makes me mad.

I like the conductors. Especially you know who wickedrentq. re: Are Broadway performers talked about by their fans?

Running shorts Dre? :-P

Did I tell you he wasn't there last time I saw it?

Maybe I really scared him last time he jumped when he saw me...

"And to shut their mouths while we're listening to the orchestra."

Amen, sister. You are my new favorite poster.

OMG, I totally agree! I hate when people talk during the overture, or like...start to clap before the orchestra has ended the song. You are cutting off the song. Ruining my enjoyment of the full song and important ending. Ulgh.

Dre, nope it wasn't Jan. Kinda weird.

Seriously.

Why DO they feel the need to start singing everytime we start playing? Don't they know that WE are all divas, too?

I love overtures! and, they are the first time we hear the music without words. which helps cause then when we do hear it again, singers go and ruin for us.

wrq, was it a guy? probably Howard. OR, as ibdb.com says, maybe it was Tim Alex. supposedly he is a replacement conductor.
