Are the "Sweeney Todd" Deluxe Edition CDs Selling Out By You?

I went to three stores tonight, all of them had sold out of the deluxe editions of the "Sweeney Todd" soundtracks. All I saw were the highlights versions. I had no idea it would be this popular.

One idiotic Best Buy employee kept trying to convince me that the 2006 Revival Cast Recording was what I was looking for.

Anyone else running into this?

I checked Wal Mart and KMart by me, and they only had the highlights. I had to go to a Coconuts and FYE to find the deluxe edition. I'm thinking Nonesuch is a small company, they are only shipping a small amount of the deluxe edition to retail stores.

Barnes and Noble had them at one point, but by the time I'd gotten there they were all gone. The store associate asked if I wanted to order it, but I figured I'd find it somewhere else.

Best Buy is usually good about stocking movie soundtracks. Guess I'll have to check back with B&N at a later date.

Sold out at two of my local B&Ns. Didn't check anywhere else and I wasn't looking for it. I use iTunes.

I bought the last on at my borders otnight.. they had a million highlights.. The soundtrack is fantastic!!

I went there Tuesday afternoon and I couldn't find it at the Best Buy in my town at first because I didn't realize they put their new releases at a different shelf. Once I found it they only had the highlights, I had to ask the clerk for the deluxe and he was able to find a copy hidden in one their carts.
I've only let myself listen to three or four tracks of my least favorite songs in the score and it sounds great. I don't want to listen to any of Mrs.Lovett's songs until I see the actual movie though. I'm sure it will be wonderful to listen to the whole thing after Friday.

I bought one of the two they had at Virgin Megastore in Orlando. They did have a lot of the highlight cd's, but for $5 more, you get the whole score and that great book.

apart from the fantastic orchestrations, this cd is awful.

If it's sold out, take it a sign from the gods that you should save your money.

I liked the orchestrations very much, and I think actually seeing the actors sing will be an entirely different experience. In fact, I am psyched beyond belief for the movie.
But HBC really does butcher Sondheim's score. I wouldn't recommend this recording to anyone except completists.

That being said, Rickman is great in Pretty Women and Depp brings a sense of true maniacal fury that gave me chills.

My local Best Buy and Borders were both sold out of the deluxe CDs. They had tons of highlights CDs left though.

The Best Buy I went to yesterday didn't even have it in the new releases section though it only came out one day previously... And there were plenty of both editions once I found 'em.

Got mine last night at the local Borders, and there were about three left in the store.

I have to say, though, that I'm a little disappointed. I've loved every clip I've seen, but without the visuals accompanying the vocal performance, something is definitely lacking.

I searched Best Buy for the longest time, and couldn't even find the highlights version. But then again, our local Best Buy rarely carries anything under the category of "musicals." I went to Borders, and they had quite a few in stock.

I don't know if it's the same, but at my local Best Buy, they usually have the cast albums and the movie/tv soundtracks all together under Soundtracks, and oddly enough at the Best Buy near me, it's next to the rap albums.

That being said, I'm so glad that I preordered the deluxe edition on Amazon.com last month. They shipped it out on the 17th and I got it the next day. I love the cd and I love hearing those beautiful orchestrations.

The Wal-Mart near me only had the Highlights version and the Target near me had neither. I'll have to look at Borders.

I got mine at Best Buy. When I couldnt find it, I asked a worker there and they looked it up and told me they only got one copy. Another worker said he thought they sold it already but the somehow found it and I got it. Lucky me I guess. I'm really enjoying it.

Never mind, mine JUST came. =)


And I have to say my favorite part is actually the new orchestrations at the VERY end of the final scene and the main titles. Gorgeous!
