The Music Man, Annie Get Your Gun. I wasn't much of a theater fan in 98 and 99, what are the chances we'll see a revival of either one in the near future?
I think Music Man is ripe for revival. It’s the shot of nostalgia and joy America needs right now.
I didn’t care for the revisions for the last Annie Get Your Gun revival. I don’t see a Broadway revival happening unless a big star is interested,

I'd be willing to bet that you won't be seeing them on Broadway for at least a decade, probably 20 years, unless Hugh Jackman or Jake Gyllenhaal decide they want to tackle TMM or I dunno who wants to do Annie.
The Music Man is definitely due for a revival one of these days. I'd love to see Zachary Levi and Kelli O'Hara take it on.

OMG! Please Music Man with Kelli O'Hara! I also thought that Kate Baldwin was fabulous in the DC production at Arena a few years back. I could see Music Man way before Annie Get Your Gun.

She's a stiff actress, but she's the proper vocal type for the role at least. She'd likely sing it well.

Ok, but Miley's got some serious pipes. She'd actually be a great choice for the part with a solid director to help her with her acting.
I think when Ben Platt gets a little older (maybe in like four/five years), he'd be an amazing Harold Hill. He definitely has the voice, the looks (what is he supposed to look like, anyway?), and it'd be fun to see him tackle a different role than what he's mainly done; ex. Evan, Benji, Elder Cunningham. Maybe he wouldn't be the biggest draw, but he'd get teenage audiences to like the show and come see it, which could potentially sustain the production for a bit.
Remember that Ethel Merman in 1946 was no Sarah Bernhardt. Miley Cyrus has already demonstrated a flair for broad comedy, which is essentially wihat the role requires. I think she would be perfect.

uhhh idk how well you know the show but Ben Platt would be 100% wrong for Harold Hill (and even then too young for about 20-25 years). more like Winthrop Paroo. i wish we could get Seth MacFarlane to do it, he would be perfect.
Someone please call Miley asap about doing Annie Get Your Gun because i think she would be fantastic in the part. and hey her pop career isn’t going so hot lately, so how could be the perfect time!
^ I don't know, it's just how I see the part, but the ages of the characters in the show are iffy. Shirley Jones was 28 when the Music Man film came out, and Robert Preston was like 44. Barbara Cook was 30 and Robert 39 when the show first opened. If they continually keep casting younger Marians, it'd be better to cast a younger Harold imo.

No, no, no to Seth McFarlane. Just one of those performers who irritates me for no particular reason. And, sorry to threadjack, but does anybody else want to see I Do, I Do revived? Maybe not Broadway but Off Broadway or a concert presentation.

I think Miley is pretty inspired casting for Annie Oakley. I don't love stunt casting in general, but I totally buy that.

If NBC still plans on doing the Music Man Live, I would like to see a Cinderella reunion between Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana in the two leads.
I had heard a long time ago that a Music Man revival with Neil’s Patrick Harris was floated, but that chatter seems to have died - it may have been for a TV version.
