Arena Stages' OKLAHOMA! may be coming to Broadway

If they are going with color-blind casting, give us Lillias White for Aunt Eller.
If not, PLEASE bring Debra Monk back to Broadway in this role!!

If it were up to me I would cast...

Adam Jacobs as Curly
Krysta Rodriguez as Laurey (I'd love to see her play an ingenue)
Daphne Rubin-Vega as Aunt Eller
Aaron Ramey as Jud
Arbender J. Robinson as Will Parker
Chasten Harmon as Ado Annie
Nehal Joshi as Ali Hakim

This is just how I would approach the multi-racial casting

I know she wants to step out of her comfort zone, and I know the role is small for her, but I'd love to see Reba as Aunt Eller.

I just got in from this evening's performance and this production is wonderful!!

E. Faye Butler is absolutely perfect and quite sassy in the role of Aunt Eller. Nicholas Rodriguez not only was wonderfully charismatic as Curley, but has a beautiful voice to match. There was not a weak link in this cast. The role of Ado Annie was played by June Schreiner. This young actress is a force to be reckoned with. She is only a junior in high school, and has a naturally comic gift which is surprising for someone so young. Eleasha Gamble, whom I loved as Svetlana in the recent production of "Chess" at Signature Theatre, was a joy as Laurie.

I thoroughly enjoyed the athletic choreography in Kansas City and The Farmer and the Cowman. I kind of wish the dance break was longer in the latter, because I just did not want that number to end. It also felt like the reprieve of the title song was kind of short.

"Oklahoma!" isn't one of my favorite R&H musicals per se because I have problems with the book (especially its clunky ending), but for some reason, that didn't matter tonight as I was really entertained throughout the entire evening.
