Seeing this in another weekend! Arena Stage always does fantastic work though. Interested to see what the colorblind casting does. I think a hispanic Judd is a brilliant idea, and I'm excited to se how it plays out.

God, why? Didn't we just suffer through this f*cking show within the last few years, courtesy of that f*cking Trevor Nunn? Just kill this f*cking show already.

Katurian, I think you meant to say Curley (Nicholas Rodriguez).
I went to Arena's box office during my lunch break because I wasn't having any luck getting tickets online. When I got there, I was told the run is virtually sold out. "Oklahoma!" is not my favorite R&H musical, but the things I've heard about this production have definitely piqued my interest.

Wow. I thought I'd never see that word used correctly again.
My hat is off to you!

Dottie- That's interesting- I called at about noon today and after being on hold FOR AN HOUR, I got student tickets at a 35% discount. I did check seating charts though and it was difficult to find two seats together on a specific date. I was only buying a single so maybe that's why it was easier.

This is honestly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. It's so overrated and has virtually no plot whatsoever. And no, I'm not a R&H hated. I understand what it did for the theater but that doesn't make it good. :P I agree, LET IT DIE.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Katurian, I was looking for a single ticket, though he did say more were available in December. I thought Thanksgiving weekend would be a good time to go, but nothing was available.

"Oklahoma!" is, without question, the greatest musical of all time, and this production sounds astounding, so all y'all crabby pants can take your new fangled musicals and shove it, lol.
If its a wonderful production and it deserves to be seen in New York than why not?
Though it sounds like it would have to be a subsidized transfer. Hard to imagine Circle in the Square having enough seats to cover costs on a thirty person musical. Maybe R&H can foot the bill for a limited run.
Read all the OKLAHOMA! reviews in one place in THEIR REVIEWS on DC Theatre Scene. See the link below. As the reviews come in, we will add it to the list.
Seriously, listen to the score performed with a beautiful full orchestra and talented singers and give the hate a second thought. It's one of the most classic and gorgeous scores ever written for the theatre, and I always welcome a new chance to hear it. It seems there's so few fully orchestrated shows nowadays, it's always a treat to hear something classic like "Oklahoma!"
That being said, if any R&H musical comes back to Bway I'm still holding out hope for a reinvigorated "Carousel."

The NT Carousel, which I think is what Broadway got, was stunning.
Shame the memory of that production got ruined with our recent 2008 revival that was cheap beyond belief!
I think this Oklahoma sounds very interesting and new... something that could travel too. I would love to see it back, the last one was about 10 years a go now, so why not? If its worthy, bring it in... theatres seem to be a plenty for Spring!
I would rather The King and I or Carousel over Oklahoma, if only because we JUST had a revival. I mean, if it's a wonderful production, then hats off to it, but I don't want this to be Gypsy where we roll our eyes at the next revival. Oklahoma is too good to let that happen to it.
Seriously, though, they should just remount Hytner's Carousel (which, yes, AnythingGoes2, is the both the NT and LCT productions). It's been 16 years and it would dazzle all over again.
