Casting for the Aretha Franklin musical.

They need 3 Arethas and that's only to age 29.

NO. Latoya would be all wrong. LOVE her voice but not soulful enough. she falls into that nikki james, capathia jenkins lot. teally nice voice but lacking that gospel soul. Lets try Ramona Keller(caroline,bklyn) or D'Atra Hicks (smokey joes). a girl with SERIOUS soprano range. not just a girl who dilly dallys in that register cuz after all young aretha was NOT playin around when it came to her soprano.

How about Mary Bond Davis? Capthaia Jenkins? Carol Woods?
Felicia P Fields. So much talent!

Actually the best person for this role is Jennifer Hudson. OMG!
PS I think they should cast Jennifer as a young Aretha. Use Mary Bond and Carol Woods.
Aretha is the queen of soul and these woman would give her the respect she needs.
Aretha Franklin is one of my favorite performers of all time and the other woman are very talented singers and performers. I can't wait to see this show. They better give her R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
Aretha does not take crap. At her most recent concert (It took place at Roseland, the sound was awful and she kept screaming at them saying the sound is terrible fix it!!!)
Hope they do all of her hits.

If it is a musical (It did say play though). They need to just keep Heru Ptah and Maurice Hines as far away from this project as possible!!!

She's doing the Dusty Springfield project. Conflict of interest to play Aretha.

just not appealing..
