Was he asleep while Patti was giving her acceptance speech or was he howling at the moon?

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

He had no idea what was going on.
Scared that he will be directing a revival of another classic.

I hope you're lucky enough to make it to 90. It's only 5 years away for some of you though.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I loved his look when Laura Benanti won, as well as Laura's reaction about him standing, she looked so genuinely moved and touched to have won. It was one of my favorite moments of the night.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Maybe he exerted all of his energy giving Laura Benanti that standing ovation. re: Arthur Laurents

I believe that is what the kids are calling a "joygasm". His three lead actors all won. His show didn't, and he didn't, but his actors did, and that's an accomplishment for a director, especially one who can recall the invention of dirt.
And it's possible that he did exert all his energy first for Patti's performance, when he standed and applauded, and then for Benanti's win. Dude's old. He needs his naps.

Say what you want about him, he's pretty agile and spry for nearly 90.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

OK- My one cheapshot at Arthur, who is brilliant:

THE SIMPSONS- THE MUSICAL
with
ARTHUR LAURENTS as MR. BURNS

The resemblace is striking.

He's old. He's in the middle of casting West Side Story. He just directed Gypsy. He stood for Patti's number and Laura. Give him a break.

"ARTHUR LAURENTS as MR. BURNS"

That is the best casting suggestion I've ever heard.

To me it looked like he was looking up at one of the large broadcast monitors on the side of the stage.
