I predict reviews for this will be all over the map. This has certainly been quite the season for divisive shows; and I think thats a great thing. Be bold or go home!

They can petition all they want... I still think it's hogwash that they'd be considered a revival.
"Even with the parts that didn't work for me, I was fascinated by the story and an era of theatre I know nothing about (and will now be diving into)."
And I think, for all its flaws, that's the ultimate success of the show. Without it, how many people would have even known this existed. It's a reclamation of the musical form as it was formed by black artistry, and I'm glad George C. Wolfe has brought it out into the open.
