Into the Woods - The Bridge, London

This sounds wonderful. I always appreciate (and am frequently also moved) when an actor finds moments of simple quiet truths. Thank you for elaborating!

It's a shame, too, because Kate Fleetwood's Witch is perhaps the most effective I've seen. She doesn't have the stellar vocals of some of our more resplendent Witches, but she is the perfect combination of funny and actually scary. She never asks for a mome

I don't think the final reveal is supposed to suggest the mansion is finished. Dialogue in the final scene suggests only the ballroom has been 'completed' but not the bedrooms etc. Indeed, the lyrics of Jackie's final song are abou

COYOTE UGLY musical adaptation with music by Diane Warren to premiere in West End in 2027
 Dec 10 2025, 10:13:11 AM

The wikipedia page for the film mentions that the final film screenplay was the result of 8 writers and barely resembled the original draft by Gina Wendkos. So a little intriguing that she is adapting and writing the book for the musical. From her original screenplay? The one in the film that barely resembles the one she wrote?

Laura Osnes Didn’t Get the Covid Shot. It Ended Her Broadway Career
 Dec 9 2025, 10:21:16 AM

Perhaps it’s worth noting that most Tony-nominated Broadway performers don’t make a living by repeatedly returning to Broadway — they earn their income through concerts, like other major artists. Laura may have distanced herself from Broadway, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking there isn’t a market in red states for Broadway-caliber talent who don’t align with the “liberal left” (in their words). By stepping away from Broadway, she may w

What revivals were flops but then later revivals become hits?

Ermengarde - I think mentioning ANYTHING GOES as the gateway for GUYS AND DOLLS is a good observation. I think the only caveat is that ANYTHING GOES is a show that is usually a 'revisal' every time it is produced. The LCT production didn't exactly revive what was done in the original production or earlier revivals. But yes, that ANYTHING GOES had replacements on Broadway, toured and had a west end run. It certainly could have sparked interest in reviving GUYS AND DOLLS, a more

Looks fascinating and I would love to see it! I'm a little skeptical this will be recorded though - it doesn't seem a starry enough cast to justify the expense of yet another cast recording of this score.

What revivals were flops but then later revivals become hits?

HAIR was revived in 1977, though that production lasted only about a month. Its 2009 revival, by contrast, ran for more than a year.

The Wiz was revived in 1983 and closed after just 13 performances. The revival last year—though a limited engagement—was well attended and financially successful.

Looking back at revivals prior to the late 1980s, most were essentially replicas of their original Broadway productions, and many had short runs th

I think Sherie actually sounds pretty great on the clips that have surfaced. She certainly seems to be giving an overall performance more in tune with the actual Jackie Siegel, so it doesn't surprise me that many feel the show seems to land better with her in the part.

The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants”

Rentaholic2 said: "If they’re considering a Broadway transfer, I wonder if they would rush to try to get a theater this season. Given how weak this season is, it seems like this is well liked enough that it could have a chance of doing quite well at the Tonys."

There is zero commercial audience for this.

Groff To Depart JUST IN TIME on March 29, 2026, Successor To Be Announced
 Nov 20 2025, 11:21:22 AM

I'm not sure the get here is to find a nuanced actor to replace but a performer with the sheer stamina to do what Groff does on stage 8 times a week. If not a Broadway performer, it would need someone used to rigorous concert style performance. This is not a park and bark crooner gig.

Ariana DeBose to lead THE BAKER'S WIFE at Classic Stage Company

"Meadowlark" is an almost 5 minute song. It wouldn't be a very good choice for auditions.

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Previews
 Nov 12 2025, 10:49:43 AM

SPOILERS I SUPPOSE...

I think the point of the piece is that people are flawed. It’s not a musical that asks us to judge which betrayals are greater, but rather one that explores how we all live within the consequences of others’ choices — and our own responses to them. If I’m remembering correctly from the London production, we actually learn very little about the specifics of the affair. Instead, we’re shown a woman forever in the shadow of her older sis

Rocky Horror Show Revival Cast
 Oct 30 2025, 04:53:36 PM

I suppose there is a small niche audience who still sees ROCKY HORROR as cutting edge and / or embraces the show as a symbol for weirdo pride that lives in us all - but - to get real - the show is 50 years old and as much a popular staple at regional and community theatres as Rodgers and Hammerstein is.

The show, like Grease was written in the 70s as a nostalgic parody of the 1950s -in the case of The Rocky Horror Show, the popular "B" horror movies that played the drive

Universal's WICKED Film - News & Discussion Thread
 Oct 20 2025, 05:26:09 PM

The film likely begins press screenings soon. The studio clearly decided it would be better to announce the news themselves rather than it be leaked from people watching the credits. I suspect they will also name who plays Dorothy soon too. Even if the actor who plays the part isn't seen fully. The person has to be named in the credits.

I'm guessing the Cowardly Lion—seen as a cub in Part 1 and now grown in Part 2, though still fairly young—will be voiced by a much younger actor than most of the names suggested here.

Kad said: "I really hope ALW has loosened up and is allowing new orchestrations for the transfer."

Completely reorchestrating a show can add a couple of hundred thousand dollars to your production budget. I think everyone involved with this production was wise to use the PAC run to determine if the concept worked first before doing that. It also generally doesn’t work to just add a few beats to existing orchestrations and have them read as concept
