The ex "You're the One That I Want" contestant is stepping into the role of Amber in a couple weeks according to playbill.com I'm happy for her personally I thought she had a lot going for her.
Ashley is Amber V starting July 24
I think it's cute that both Ashley and Laura will be making their Broadway debuts on July 24th.
Oh I didn't even think about that! :-P I am sad however that she's only in it until Oct; a short run. But I'm very glad for her to have her debut.
Cheers,
Christopher
I think she'll make a good Amber!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofui agree. she's so fake it'd work wonderfully! not to mention her voice is very beautiful :)
I wonder why its a short contract?? Maybe she has something else lined up? I thought Brynn OMally was the best Amber I've seen.. it'll be sad to see her go.

Luckily I love the show so much that it doesn't matter that they are casting game show contestants. I'm not a big fan of that kind of casting.
I'll still go again. Maybe she'll be good. I'll have to see for myself.
I am very happy for Ashley! I think she will be fantastic! Congratulations to her!

Trace - if you really want to be 110% technical about it, Ashley will make her Broadway debut before Laura.
Ashley's opening night is July 24, whereas Laura's opening night isn't until the middle of August. Grease could end up closing in previews (which it won't, but you never know...)
haha, YankeeFan. I guess you are technically correct. Unfortunately, Ashley doesn't have the luxury of performing in any preview performances...

In any case, this sounds like the summer to see Hairspray.
2 TV stars (Paul Vogt and Jerry Mathers)
2 reality TV people (Ashley Spenser and Ashley Parker Angel)
1 movie actress (Alexa Vega)
3 musicians (Darlene Love, Tevin Campbell, and Angel, if you count him again).
Good for her. That'll be a good fit and will give her a chance to learn and grow more.
Was it ever official that Austin Miller would be Link?

I hope not. I've seen him play it twice and wanted to leave the theatre despite how much I loved the show. I'm usually not one for negativity on this board but I hope the producers and powers above keep Miller away from that show for good. He's done his stint in it already and should be done with it.
Off topic but, Diana DeGarmo, however, can step back into Penny anyday she wants in my opinion.
Cheers,
Christopher

Austin was brilliant as Link!
Whatever you think about reality shows, you can't take away the fact that Ashley worked really hard. I think it's very difficult to go through an entire audition process in the public eye and then get runner-up. At least she has talent- not like a lot of pop stars who are cast on Broadway. Her audition process for Grease was well above and beyond what anyone else has to do. She had to learn so many numbers each week with different partners. Yes, I know that is part of the business but she was very poised throughout the process. I loved Laura from the get go on Grease but I am glad that Ashley is also going to be on Broadway.
i'm very happy for her. i liked her a lot too and she was definitely very talented. and funny, i was just telling someone today how i thought the final contestants all made good impressions and have careers ahead of them

If Kathy Griffin is on the D list then Ashley Spencer is not even near the B list or a D list.
I definately thought laura was better than Ashley, but she was my second favorite. i am happy she finally got a part on Broadway. I can totally see he in this role.
I really, didn't like Ashley Spencer... but the role is good for her...
