sitting front row at RENT right now. Intermission. First time seeing it. Very impressed with the cast especially the guy that plays roger. What is odd tho is the theater is EMPTY. Balcony has 2 or 4 people only. Floor level, barely anyone sitting right and left orchestra. Deserted completely.
What's going on? Its Monday night and this is one of the few shows playing... Sad that when the cast finishes a song it only sounds like 10 people are clapping. Oh well. Having fun.
Tamyra gray = awesome too
The grosses have been TERRIBLE for the show. For weeks. So it doesn't surprise me the theater is so empty.
Are you seriously posting from the theatre?

oh man is it painful to hear it is that empty........what can we do do improve RENT's fortunes?

Looks like it won't last much longer if that keeps up. Should have closed with Anthony and Roger. Too bad I'm not a big fan of the current cast.
Oh well, if they announce a closing date it'll be packed until closing with people looking to see it one last time.
iPhone?

Let it close so it goes out with some dignity. It has had its day in the sun. It's run for over ten years.

Why don't the people in the balcony come down to orchestra?
THAT is the hard-hitting question.
Eeeeeeeek!

hahaha *peeing* at that last "hard hitting question"
thats so true though.....why dont they??? haha.....
well i saw RENT last Thursday (Tamyra was out, Karmine in)
and it was pretty well full...Orch. was full, Balc was half full......not too bad, although i do agree about the very limited clapping after songs, that was kinda sad...considering that last time i saw it, anthony and adam were in it, and it was like a bloody rock concert!
A rock concert? Did the girls throw their bras on stage? Do they know Anthony is gay?
I mean, RENT just envokes so many questions. I feel like becoming a journalist. SUPPORT ME.

i was reffering to the amount of screaming involved when they came on stage....it was phenomenal compared to the pathetic claps i heard last week.

It was pretty close to that. People lost their minds. Screaming actor's names during the show. Clapping and wooing pretty much mid-sentence. Ridiculous behavior.
Well clearly his sexuality hasn't been set yet because nothing turns a gay man straight like 13 year old girls screaming in his face and clawing at him. Duh.

They should put that on notebooks and bumper stickers and sell them at the Neder.
That is pretty ridiculous. That would irritate me to no end. When I saw Julius Caesar, someone behind me randomly began to scream "Marry Me Den-" and an usher jumped her pretty quickly.
I think it is time for them to close. They will build up a huge hype about it being the last time you can see Rent and get some people in the seats and shut the thing down.

it was so crazy. im talking 13 year old crying and screaming like Justin Timberlake walked in the room (if we were back in 1998, during the NSYNC days) it was nuts.
I will be sad if RENT closes....i mean, it's had a good run,i just wish those 13 year olds could get as much out of it as us "old rentheads" do..instead of the after math of the movie....haha....i mean i remember this show when i was 13, like 8 years ago....crazy.
audience was a bit more full than I originally thought. I'd say about 20 to 25 in the balcony and half full on the sides of the lower level. Last few rows of center orchestra were empty. What's odd is how unresponsive the crowd was considering that the cast was PHENOMENAL. Even tho the show wasn't my alltime fave I'd say the cast was the overall most talented cast I've seen in a show. That's why it was so odd that the audience was so unresponsive. Man the guy that played roger can SING!
Glad I saw it... Very good with some genuinely brilliant performances.
P.s. Yes iPhone and only during intermission so I wouldn't disrupt anything.

I think it should close, but I selfishly want it to wait til next year so I can afford (or give half a damn about) seeing it once more before it's closed on Broadway.
