I bought a ticket to attend my first Tony Awards on 6/7/09. The event is black-tie, but I'm wondering if the dress code can be more lax for us peons sitting in the third mezzanine? Is a tuxedo required or can I get away with a dark suit?

This will be my third year in a row going, and a dark suit is perfectly fine...

You can definitely get away with a suit.

I'll be there for the third time this year.

I wore a suit in 2003 and 2004 and it was more than fine.

According to my invite, it says that "FORMAL ATTIRE IS REQUIRED." But I would think that a dark suit would suffice in the upper decks. But I don't make the rules.

Been in first mezz past 4 years and always have worn a tux....
