If you've been following consumer news, it looks like DUNKIN' made a drastic mistake when they rolled out their newly revamped 'rewards program' a little over a month ago.
You need more reward points to get a free coffee beverage, and now they are offering food items and specialty drinks as well - at a premium reward level. There's also opportunities to "unlock special offers each month" for consumers. It may have looked good on paper, but in actuality it's been a disaster - consumers are confused, offers are not taking effect, etc. It's been a nightmare for store owners and managers as well. ( I haven't had any problems with it, and I visit DD at least once a day). According to one business reporter, he's hearing the new program will be gone by the end of the year because of the money they are losing with refunds and correcting mistakes. Rumor is the old rewards program will be reinstated after New Year's. I'm sure heads will roll after this blunder. Stay tuned..
