Anyone make it to last night's concert? Really wanted to go but my need to finally see John Dexter's production of "Dialogues of the Carmelites" at the Met surpassed my desire to see Audra again.
Very curious to hear what she performed, I imagine much of her new album. I don't suppose she performed "I Happen to Like New York," did she???
For those who missed her last night, us lucky New Yorkers have a second chance to see her this summer: she'll be performing at the intimate (for Audra anyway...) Venetian Theater at Caramoor in August.
Sure to be a lovely night.
Audra at Caramoor
It was a fabulous concert--everyone should watch it when it airs on PBS! I got my ticket through Theatermania and was at the back of the first tier.
Audra did a number of the songs from her new album, including "Go Back Home" (obviously), "Baltimore", "First You Dream", "Virtue", "Married Love", "I'll Be Here", and "Make Someone Happy". She opened with "I Happen to Like New York." Other highlights include "Stars and the Moon", "Moments in the Woods" (which may be the first time she's sung that in concert, can anyone confirm?), "Moonshine Lullaby", "Summertime", "Maybe This Time", and "Some Days." She also accompanied herself on the piano for an Adam Guettel song I didn't recognize.
This sounds essentially like the concert tour she did pre-Porgy back in 2011, so no, it's not the first time she has sung "Moments in the Wood" in concert. The Guettel song was "Migratory V" from Myths and Hymns.
But she didn't do either that or "Stars and the Moon" at Carnegie in 2011. I PRAY she does both at Caramoor!
Ecstatic that she might sing "I Happen to Like New York"!
A fantastic evening. Audra delivered in spades as usual. Can't wait for the PBS broadcast.

Looking at my songlist from Carnegie Hall, she sang both of those songs.
I wish I could have seen her at Lincoln Center, if it was the same setlist from Carnegie Hall as it seems to have been, it was a really incredible performance.
