Audra in Concert on PBS

Anyone watching? Her opening number (one of my favorite songs), "I Happen To Like New York" was...weird. She seemed like if she didn't finish the song in under 2 minutes, they'd cut her microphone off.

Good show from Audra. Seemed like she really warmed up, vocally and physically, in that second half hour.

I haven't heard a bad rendition of the Adam Gwon song ("I'll Be Here") yet, and her's just became one of my favorites.

I caught the last 1/2 hour but had it dvr'd. That song she sang about 911 caught me off guard and had me in tears.

She was right about the hair thing!

Just watching it now! She truly is stunning! And I have to agree about 'I'll be here', I first heard it a few days ago when doing some work, and it just stopped me in my tracks and I ended up crying my eyes out!

That Audra lady just knows how to tug at my heartstrings.

I like your imperturbable perspicacity.

It's a shame Live from Lincoln Center is only an hour long. They cut out "Stars and the Moon," "Edelweiss" and "Craigslistlieder" among other gems Audra sang at the concert. There was also a fantastic anecdote about a street performer Audra encountered in Cambridge during the ART tryout of "Porgy and Bess" before she sang "My Buddy" in the same key and octave as the male street performer, which was pitched for a soprano, that didn't make the broadcast.

Sadly, it doesn't look like "Edelweiss" is there, but the PBS site has several of the other songs cut from the broadcast:

Finally watching it now on the old DVR.

Audra is a national treasure. I'm so thoroughly enjoying this.

She makes it look so easy. And it ain't.

Her Maybe This Time is mind blowing. I can't stop listening to it. Her desperation is really really striking. This might be my favorite rendition of that song, and that's coming from a diehard Liza fan.

How does she do that?

Her voice is insane, I don't know how she does it either but I'm glad she does. I loved that she sang "Gorgeous," one of my favorite showtunes. I've been listening to her rendition of "You're a Queer One, Julie Jordan"/"Mister Snow" nonstop since this came out, it baffles my mind to think what it must have been like to be in the audience in 1994 watching this girl turn into a legend in front of your eyes, her rendition of those songs hasn't been matched.

Wow! I loved everything... including that stunning song from "Steel Pier". I'm not as familiar with that score, and her rendition was breathtaking.
