Australian Nancy for London 'Oliver!'

Tamsin Carroll the Australian actress who played Nancy in Camerons 2002 Australian production of 'Oliver!' has agreed to come to Drury Lane and be the alternative when Jodie is resting!
Tamsin has a great record of musical theatre in Australia having done 'Shout', 'The Rocky Horror Show', 'A Little Night Music' and she also played Dusty in the Dusty Springfield biog musical to amazing acclaim.
She won numerous awards for her performance as Nancy in Australia.

Tamsin is absolutely fantastic as Nancy. I saw Oliver here in Melbourne almost 6 years ago now, and was so blown away by her that I had to see the show again - this back in the days where I had to save up all my pocket money for 2 months to afford it! She is phenomenal.

She looks fantastic and seems to have a wonderful air about her that just suits Nancy perfectly. I have 4 or 5 friends /clients in the production and will certainly be seeing her above the main lead first!

Exactly -don't go dragging us into that again, but its all to do with her not doing the 8 as they don't want a repeat of the 'The Sound Of Music' fiasco when the main lead wanted to do the 8 but couldn't.
I've said on here many times that Nancy is an iconic musical theatre role but hardly a big sing! One and a half songs!

I had no interest in seeing Oliver! on my trip down this December...but now I'm strongly considering squeezing it in.

She just seems like a far better match in every sense of the word; experience, talent, reliability, looks, star quality etc.

Whereas Jodie, em....nice lass...

The whole reality TV thing really pisses me off big time!
Why did Cameron get involved with the show to get what he still sees as the not exactly the Nancy he would want! I'll tell you why- because if it wasn't done via the TV the show wouldn't be selling anywhere near the way it is at the moment.
He thinks Tamsin Carroll is the best performer ever and loved her in the Australian production- well its his money, his show, why didn't he just cast her straight out and then still have Rowan Atkinson pull the public in. I'm sure Mr Atkinson would have done the show, TV or no TV reality show!

Here she is as Magenta in Rocky Horror. Couldn't find any pictures of her as Nancy, but she makes a great Magenta lol!

Tamsin is one of the most graceful, committed, talented and giving performers that Australia has ever produced. A star in every sense of the word. During her ten month run with the Rocky Horror show, while her cast mates became ill and injured, Tamsin did not miss ONE performance. She is committed to her character every second that she is on stage, such a wonderful story teller. Born to be a star of the stage, hopefully even bigger things are coming for her after this. Run don't walk to see her in Oliver!.

I have one problem and fear with Tamsin, based on youtube recordings and what friends out in Australia who have seen her said, I think she is actually gonna be better than Jodie, and after the initial Jodie hype is over, Tamsin's shows will be full, and jodie's empty!

This will certainly be the case and Cameron is finding it hard to cover his excitement about her doing the London show. I bet he's regretting the whole reality TV thing and should just have brought her in straight away!
She is the only reason I and a lot of people I know will be seeing this tired old production.

I care enough to see Rowan Atkinson. And I will gladly take any comps that come your way for Jodie nights since I doubt I'll be able to get in as press on this one (and damned if I'll pay full price!)

Julian Bleach + Julius D'Silva + Rupert Goold. I hate the show, but I'm easily bought by the simple act of employing people I admire. I actually *want* to see this.
